doing it again and inside a calendar year would be even more impressive though
if it is more impressive, please specify all the players that have won 4 straight GSs since Laver in 1969, regardless of whether it was within a calendar year or not

what makes it more difficult/rare is that you have to start the winning run from AO and not any GS

so it makes sense that even the 4 most dominant tennis players of the 21st century (with 81 GS wins between them) have not done a CYGS (although 2 of them have won 4 in a row)

Djokovic broke all sorts of Geneva conventions by brutally breaking Musetti, Nadal and Tsitsipas mentality over and over. What a fucking legend!!!!!! 🇷🇸

Djokovic is already the goat its just a formalty when he breaks 20 . He has won all masters and grand slam events at least twice. Nadal and federer not so much. Djokovic total weeks at number 1 by a long shot. The way he mentally abuses both players in historically important matches has devalued the conversation of who is the goat. No wimbledon last year and defaulted at us open should be at 20 or 21 already.

Yeah, I think today is the day that he's surpassed Federer and Nadal for the reasons you mentioned. This French Open was huge for him from a historical perspective. Can't see how you can make the case for Federer/Nadal unless you value number of grand slams above all other achievements or overstate the importance of the Olympics/year-end championships.

Nole's CV as of today:

  • 19 Grand Slam titles and counting
  • a joint record of 36 masters titles and counting (with Nadal)
  • a record 6 masters titles won in the one year
  • only player ever to have won all 9 masters tournaments which he has done twice... no other player has won more than 7
  • a joint record of 6 year end no. 1 finishes and counting (with Sampras)
  • most weeks ranked no. 1 in the world at 324 weeks and counting (Federer is on 310, Nadal 209)
  • 5 ATP Tour Finals victories and counting (behind only Federer's 6) --> Nadal has zero
  • only one of three men's players ever to have won all 4 Grand Slams in a row (with Rod Laver and Don Budge)
  • only men's player ever to win all four Grand Slams in a row on three different surfaces
  • only one of three men's players to win all four Grand Slams at least twice each (with Laver and Emerson) and the only one to do it in the open era
  • only men's player to have reached the final of each Grand Slam on at least 6 occasions each
  • highest ever accrued ranking points in mid 2016 having been the holder of all four Grand Slams, the ATP Tour Finals, and a host of masters tournaments
  • undoubtedly, the player of the decade for 2010-2020 in what was a talent laden era with the Big 3, Andy Murray, Stan Wawrinka, Juan Martin Del Potro, Jo Wilfred Tsonga etc.
  • a positive H2H record against all major rivals throughout the era - Nadal, Federer, Murray, Wawrinka, Del Potro, Tsonga etc... interestingly, Djokovic is the player all the other Big 4 players have played most in matches between the Big 4 in their careers indicating that Djokovic was consistently competing and having to go through Nadal, Federer and Murray to achieve the above
  • a Davis Cup victory with a relative tennis minnow like Serbia
  • clearly one of the most clutch players the game has seen... and compare Nole's mental strength with that of Federer who has something like 23-24 match losses AFTER having match points to win including his infamous 40-15 trilogy against Djokovic
  • all of the above done entirely in the era of Federer and Rafa with Djokovic only starting to win after Federer and Rafa were already multiple GS winners --> Federer already had 16 GS titles in 2010 before Djokovic had won his second GS at the Oz Open
  • all of the above done with western fans and pundits and the media unabashedly against him... probably why Federer is such a mental midget --> during his peak, all his opponents rolled over for him (except Nadal at the French Open), the media kissed his a*+#, too soon the talk was Federer vs history, him wearing an embroidered '15' on a jacket after breaking Sampras' record etc., but he never faced adversity and prevailed... if anything, he was more likely to break down and cry

Novak is a monster

and I was so deliciously wrong when I said he should retire at the beginning of 2018 believing he was finished

One of the most impressive things about Djokovic is blocking out his parents nervous energy in the players box .

Start of French open got delayed a week this year not much of a break before wimbledon. he’s the only player remaining out of final four from french open. hopefully Djokovic has enough left in the tank for these last 2 matches . More than likely will be playing fresher hungry young players.
Not sure how he plans on playing in olympics in less than 2 weeks

thankfully for Nole he has not been overly tested thus far at Wimbledon losing only one set across 5 matches

with Medvedev losing early, Nole will keep the no. 1 ranking

hard to see Federer ever winning another Grand Slam

this berrettini dude talkin like a hard cvnt. apparently when nole screamed after match point in that french open quarter final he said; “(novak) djokovic screamed because he got scared during the match. i put him in trouble”

i hope he gets dispatched in straight sets 👊

The GOAT Djokovic won his 20th grand slam! Federer and Nadal fans are suffering from Novak Derangement Syndrome as they attack him for things like beating his chest vs Shapavolov and it being the weakest era in tennis. 😂
