thought he'd have earned himself a move to somewhere bigger after seeing him when we played them a few years ago

how much would he cost now? hopefully less than Friend.
With van Hooijdonk retiring we'll need someone in the summer

Well his season was off and on last year, and I think LSK fans had expected him to be much better after an amazing lead up to the 2006 season, when LSK went far in the Royal League. As for his reputation, and how much the club values him at it all depends on what he does in the coming months. Reports in the newspapers today say that he is hungry for goals, and feels fit as a fiddle.

Lyn's Nigerian Chinedu "Edu" Ogbuke is the man to watch though. For me he always looked better than Chelsea's Mikel when they were both at Lyn. To be fair there was more talk about Mikel, and they are different players. Primarily Mikel is a midfielder, while Edu is lethal in front of goal.

Monday 9/4 (1. round)
Lillestrøm - Fredrikstad 3-0
No doubt about which team was better here, or how about 8-0 in chances? Oliver Occean was man of the match, as an impressive Lillestrøm offence started the season the way everyone had expected them to, on top of all statistics.

Lyn - Sandefjord 3-0
A bit more even than LSK - FFK. Lyn's star Edu got injured, and a very lucky Magnus Powell came in as a substitute and scored not even a minute later. First he had gotten the ball back after a failed dribble, his following shot was then blocked by a defender in such a way that the ball went into a lob over the keeper. Looked more like a circus performance than league football. Bad refereeing decisions against them and some clumsy touches later, Sandefjord had lost the match. They weren't impressive, but the ball didn't exactly roll their way on Sunday either.

Strømsgodset - Odd Grenland 2-1
Strømsgodset looked much better than Odd Grenland on Sunday, and Mattias Andersson, the 1st division player of the year in 2006, was the man of match once again. Even if Odd took the lead, it was a fairly one sided affair, and Godset might just be a tough opponent for anyone this season.

Tromsø - Vålerenga 1-0
Perhaps the goal of the round as Sequeira replaced an injured Rushfeldt. If he scores more like that he will certainly be a big hit this season. Vålerenga was the better team, both on paper and during the match, but at the end of the day goals are all that count.

Viking - Rosenborg 1-1
Viking had Rosenborg under pressure at times, in what seemed like a match between to fairly evenly matched teams. While Rosenborg will certainly be stronger in the long run, Peter Ijeh's goal for Viking did send a promise out to their many fans, that Rosler has got something going on with this team.

Aalesund - Start 2-4
One of the more tense matches in the round, and easily the match with most goals. A mistake on 2-1, gave Start the equaliser they had been searching for, and after a red card shortly afterwards, AaFK disappointingly fell together like a pack of cards. Apart from the 10-15 minutes that lasted, the teams were evenly matched, and either side could have taken the win. Start needs to build on this for the opening of their new stadium, while AaFK will have to try and bounce back as they meet three of the teams they are expected to fight for survival against in the coming two weeks.

See match report in the AaFK forum.

Tuesday 10/4 (1. round)
Stabæk - Brann 0-1
More than anything, what I took from this match was that Brann seemed solid throughout. An on paper impressive Stabæk offense had nothing on Brann. It wasn't beautiful, and it wasn't great, but it was entertaining, and it was the sort of machine like performance that you would expect from a league champion.

See match report in the Brann forum.

Two beautiful new stadiums are being opened this weekend in the Norwegian top league. The first one is being opened right now, as Fredrikstad FK is hosting FC Lyn Oslo. Should be a tight and interesting match.

Fredrikstad is pushing Lyn backwards at the opening of the match, and is playing beautiful football. Lyn just got a harshly given red card against them, as Brink got red carded for tackling Fofana just outside the box. He didn't hit the ball, and Fofana who was alone with the keeper lost his balance after being touched by Brink. Fofana did manage a finish though, but just straight on Lyn keeper Gustafsson. Experienced referee Terje Hauge then called a free kick for Fofana and FFK, and a red card for Brink!

Super double save by Sweden and Fredrikstad's Rami Shaaban now, as Espen Hoff got into a great position on the counter attack, and delivered an excellent shot. Shaaban had to let go of the ball in mid air, and Lyn's Powell shot the ball straight from the rebound, but again Shaaban was in the air to save the shot.

1-0 for Fredrikstad after 35 minutes. Øyvind Hoås scored the first goal on Fredrikstad Stadium as he gave the home team the lead. It was a long ball that surprisingly dropped down on defender Ståle Stensaas legs, as his team mate Sigurdsson could not head it away. An unprepared Stensaas saw the ball bounce in front of Hoås, who quickly shot at goal. A bad attempt at a save followed, as the ball went under Gustafsson and into the goal. Lyn getting hit by the same stroke of bad luck that they benefitted from against an unlucky Sandefjord in the first round of the season.

Fredrikstad got a goal correctly blown off for offside in the 41st minute. Apart from that not much happened in the final minutes of the half, and it's 1-0 to Fredrikstad at half time.

Tarik Elyounoussi just made it 2-0 for Fredrikstad. After receiving a pass from Bjørkøy, he easily put it past Gustafsson from short range.

Substitute Bala reduced the score to 2-1 for Lyn. Shortly after he came on, he headed the ball into the goal, as the defenders let him all to himself on Lyn's corner.

Bala has been sharp for Lyn since he came in, but it was Fredrikstad's Brian West that sealed the deal in the 88th minute, as he received the ball on the edge of the box. With plenty of time he easily placed the ball into the opposite corner of goal, and out of reach for Gustafsson.

Final score: Fredrikstad vs Lyn - 3-1
