----------------------------------

UEFA reached an agreement that no more playoffs will be played for the European championships, starting allready with Euro 2008 in Austria and Switzerland. From now on two best teams from each group will qualify directly to the tournament. Concretly for Euro 2008 this means, that there will be seven qualifying groups (six of seven teams and one of eight) thus fourteen teams plus the two hosts.

I think it's a good thing, you?

If we qualify, I'll consider it good, otherwise no. :D

We'll only qualify if we'll be good enough. Seriously, it won't be any easier now, but it's a bit more fair in my opinnion. The competition should be even harder now with less groups as it will make groups consist of more quality teams. Now, if you have a good draw you can only have one top team in the group and therefore hope for that second place and the luck in the playoffs, with the new system it will be a lot harder as chances for more top teams to end up in one group will be bigger.
