Some people see Argentina as the obvious winner, i don't. Beeing a favorite is a tough task. They might feel the pressure and fail. France got a great team, but winning 2 straight wc seems unlikely, I hope Italy will win but i never predict my own country even through they have a decent chance. I will instead go for Brazil this time. They didn't impress in the qualification and therafter they don't have the same pressure in the wc. They can slowly form their winning team, without all the media crap. Brazil got lots of great players in their team and if they finally can play together as a team i see them as a gold candidate.

They have almost great players on all positions, except the keeper. I guess it will either Marcos or Julio Cesar. 2 guys playing in brazil, therafter i haven't got to see them much.

We got the ultimate fighter Lucio. one of my favorite defenders of the time. Even if his team would be down 0-5 he still would be fighting like it was a close battle, but that's not the case.... He'll be playing the CL final for his Leverkusen soon, and he's been chased by many big clubs for a while. Belletti, Anderson Polga (going to roma?) Cafú, Edmilson and Roberto Carlos with his freekicks.

Among the midfielders we gotta mention the Roma player Emerson, defenitely a top quaility player with fighting spirit. We got Ze Roberto from Leverkusen too. Juninho Pernambucano and Juninho Paulista, both great players, Rivaldo who's probably used as a offensive midfielder. Denilson who's been excelent lately!

Forwards are Franca, Edilson (unknown in europe), Ronaldinho, Kaka(if he'll be going) Ewerthon, And a Ronaldo back in topform that could be very important. We also gotta mention a great Romario, perhaps won't go but should IMO.

Say what you like but don't count out brazil, they have never missed a wc and they got some incredible players in their team. Their group sux so they will probably finnish 1 and play a team that finnished 2. if they win there they have proved that they are better then most ppl though. Then in the quarters, semi's and final (if they make it) it will only be super teams for sure, and there we'll really will see exactly how good Scolari's team can play. Brazil will go far, trust me, they hardly play's a bad tournament. Ciao!

Check this great Brazil fotball link btw, to see some info about the players.

Nasty Nick,

Me too!;) Will eat people in the edges, it will be a pressure free world cup for us, with not very beatiful football, but a more result oriented football. And our maanger is a specialist in cup competitions!

Btw, we got no problems in goal. We have 4 top world class goalies which are getting everything lately. And unfortunately Julio Cesar might not me going to the world cup....he'll take the more experieced : Marcos, Dida, and Rogerio Ceni!

Im going to have to disagree. I haven't seen anything to suggest it wont be France lifting the cup again this summer. The only arguement you offer against them is that winning 2 WCs is unlikly, which it is, but i doubt that will phase them.

Brazil may challenge. They have all the talent in the world offensivly but im not sure how accomplished they are at the back. I think they will benenfit from being out of the spotlight, you saw what that did to them in France 98 final.

I'm leaning towards a Brazil, Argentina or Spain. One of these 3 will win it in my opinion.

France may beat Brazil again but they certainly won't beat the fiery Spaniards.

Since when did you believe Spain will win it? I never heard you say that before. Weird... But again I'm gonna say Portugal. Looking at what is going to happen to the team. They have been together for so long, but this is their only World Cup campaign and most likely the last for the Golden Generation. I think they will all pull together and make this one count. Each and every player on the team knowing that this may be the last time this squad will be together, they will give it all they have. Argentina is not in this situation, and though they have alot of talent and alot of will, Portugal has the talent and alot more will knowing that this is the squads last chance. Brazil is still in the recovering process of France '98 and qualification in my eyes, and Spain.... well Spain has alot of talent and potential, but as everyone knows, Spain always chokes up in major tournaments. France unlike the other(excluding Portugal) looks like they have the same squad that can take it again, but it is very hard to win it back to back. It will be entertaining to see France go out for it again and also for Portugal. Hopefully we will see a French & Portuguese final.

You may say don't get your hopes up, but you have to understand that I have to. This Portuguese squad going into Korea/Japan 2002 World Cup is the best Portuguese squad since 1966, when Portugal took 3rd in the World Cup in England. Every player has something to prove to themselves and to their clubs for Portugal in the World Cup, but what is on all the Portuguese players mind is that they must prove themselves to the World and to their native Portugal, that they are the best in the World. And I think with dedication, respect, trust, confidence, and the support from the whole country that they can pull off an historic run that will lead them to their first World Cup championship.

I ain't gonna really predict any winners until the 90th minute of the final, but I am gonna say I think the 4 semi finalists will be Italy, Portugal, Brazil and Argentina.
