Quinn has a new role at the Stadium of Light (Allsport)
06/26/2002. Sunderland striker Niall Quinn is the newest member of the backroom staff at the club after being promoted to player-coach.
The 35-year old, who announced his international retirement after Ireland's World Cup exit, starts his new role straight away as part of a major change around behind the scenes at the club, including former Everton forward Adrian Heath taking over as boss Peter Reid's assistant.
Reid told the club's official web site, "The new football structure will be a massive benefit to the football club in terms of experience, technical knowledge, new ideas and enthusiasm."
