Turkey have shocked Belgium 2-0 in Brussles to claim a Quarter Final showdown with Portugal in Amsterdam on Saturday.

Hakan Sukur is a dangerous striker and Couto and Jorge Costa will have their work cut out by him. The last time the 2 sides met was at Euro 96 in Nottingham when Couto scored from outside the box to give Portugal a 1-0 win. On that day Turkey goalie Rustu proved hard to beat, and tonite against Belgium, Rustu was once again formidible in goal.

However, Turkey's defensive quality's are still debatable. On a number of occasions they failed to clear the ball properly and made some silly errors. But with the help of some poor finishing by the Belgian's and some good goalkeeping by Rustu, Turkey held out for a magnificent win in their first ever Quarter Final apperance in a major tournament.

Well the Turks had a very open midfield and i think Portugal with its attackink midfielders will run over them.

Don't misconstrue this as an anti-Turkey post, as I'm psyched for them and their victory; but I'm a lot more confident of Portugal's chances against Turkey than against Belgium.

Portugal should have its best players rested for Saturday's match while Turkey is somewhat beat up after yesterday's emotional win over Belgium.

The fact that Tugay Kerimoglu has stormed out of the Turkey camp after being substituted in the Belgium game can only be good news too :)

BUT NO COMPLECENCY PLEASE PORTUGAL - DON'T DO ANOTHER CZECH REPUBLIC - THIS IS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO REACH THE SEMIS - LETS TAKE IT!!!!

Its really hard to estimate the result because Turkey isnt playing well in midfield because of the coach's choices in that position but we can be very dangerous in attack. And our goalkeeper and defence are strong. the place we lack is midfield and that makes a difference but playing long ball like we did in aBelgium game, Arif and hakan sukur are one of the most dangerous counter atack players in the world.

We have 10 midfielders in the team and we have some of the best. However, Coach denizli increrdibly, always makes the wrong choices. He can basicly put galatasaray' s midfield!!
they won eufa cup because they are excellent in midfield. they are just everywhere and play near perfection. Arif and hakan Sukur also play in gala and they have perfect transitions between mid and attack. But denizli is absolutely brainless.

if he doesnt make a change in midfield and put more gala players in right positions, we will beat you..if not we are more likely to lose!

After seeing Turkey play its two first games against Italy and Sweden I thought it was the worst team of Euro 2000. Well, they have beaten Belgium and not with great difficulty, so tey are not that bad after all! Well, I really don't seriously see them causing problems to Portugal that has shown to be among the best teams of the Tournament. I see an easy victory ahead, unless Portugal makes the mistake of taking them lightly.

Good luck to Portugal and all the way to the final!
