The return match is being played wednesday.
From what ive read it looks like Bajevic will play a few youngsters in this match.
I just hope our players play for their pride and show a good account of themselves. Newcatle are beatable even though I dont believe we can overturn the 1-3 result that bastard Ibanez helped manufacture.

at the end of the day Olympiakos was just not good enough, the result in Athens along with the send offs had hurt us but hey thats soccer, you move on and build on it...as Ive stated previous times, the team needs a major revamp and to develop its youth otherwise im afraid we are going to see alot more of these results...our players are way way too slow and again our away performance is nothing short of shocking, after the first goal we gave up and the gates were opened..dissapointing! Giovanni again let us down, WHY we persist with him especially in away games is beyond me...until we get rid of the ageing players and put in place a plan to get some youth to give us the drive we will see no progress, we had some good showings in Athens in CL games but when it counted we failed...

I just got into work after a long drive back from Newcastle. Although we expected to lose 2-0, 4-0 was simply embarrasing. We didn't play well or even look like we wanted to play at all. I would disagree that Giovanni was the worst player. Pantos was, although Giovanni came a close second.

Anyway, I'll post the pictures of my trip as soon as I can find the cable from the camera to the machine.

Newcastle 4 - 0 Olympiakos

Olympiacos CFP were eliminated from the UEFA Cup competition, following their 4-0 defeat to Newcastle. The visitors made a poor performance and in no part of the game did they have a chance in claiming the qualification, which was a difficult task anyway, following the first leg’s result (1-3). Dyer (17'), Shearer (44', 69') and Bowyer (54') netted the four goals for the home team.

Referee: Konrad Plautz (Austria)

Yellow cards: Vallas

NEWCASTLE UNITED: Given, Carr (67' Ramage), Butt, O’Brien, Hughes, Taylor, Jenas, Dyer (60' Milner), Shearer, Bowyer, Robert (60' N'zogbia).

OLYMPIAKOS CFP: Nikopolidis, Mavrogenidis, Pantos, Vallas, Anatolakis, Stoltidis (79' Taralidis), Maric, Kafes, Castillo, Giovanni (67' Philippakos), Djordjevic (62' Okkas).

Probably more focused on the first leg than the second. I guess any other club would've done likewise under those circumstances. Should've just forgotten and played for pride. Overall, the gavroi can't complain about Europe this year though.Just a shame it had to end like this.

well anyone want to explain what happen???
The tie was over in the 1st match where the spanish bastard referee helped alter the result.
Olympiakos went to St. James park witha glimmer of hope of overturning the deficit.
Once Newcastle scored in the 20th minute the Olympiakos players surrendered.
They showed disinterest , trying to save energies for the difficult away game we have inCrete.
The players were in "win the league title mode" and thus put in an appalling performance .
Newcastle are in great form at this time and played non stop for 90 minutes.
Whilst the score looks bad , the tie was killed off for us by the Spanish ref in the 1st match.
Had we gone to England protecting a result from the 1st match things would have been different.

Dear All,
Here are my pictures from the trip to Newcastle. Sorry about the lighting on some of the pictures, I still haven't got to grips with the options on the camera.

Anyway, here they are. Enjoy.

He's a really nice guy. I didn't really get long as the police were ushering us out of the stadium at the time and I only really got time for a photo. A few of the members talked to him throughout the match and he also gave the impression to them that the team wasn't even trying to play.
