Suffice it to say, some of us are more impressed by catenaccio, some others think the mor eimportant thing is to attack. Of course football is to some extent about goals, but to say that it's just about goals really reduces it to a very low level! We who love football know better than that; if we just want to see the goals then we'll just see the highlights program and not see the entire match!
I prefer attack personally, and to me defence is somewhat secondary. But somehow catenaccio never suits me at all - actually it's not the catenaccio I guess but more of the goals coming from set pieces; I still prefer the defence style of the East European teams. Again, it's down to personal preference.
Italy is the master of defence, yes, credits to that. It wasn't their fault that Holland missed two penalties in 90 mins.
But I was hoping to see at least one finalist with attack as their top priority (can't say that about France, Eventhough they're definitely more attacking than Italy).
And it's not to be.
