Alessandro Nesta
Lazio to Manchester Utd.

The 26-year-old Italian international defender Alessandro Nesta will sign for Manchester United this summer in a £30m deal. And the Lazio captain's move to Old Trafford is the reason why the Italians will not sell former United star Jaap Stam. Premiership promotion hopefuls Wolves are the second English club to be told in recent weeks that £10m-rated Stam is going nowhere. A Lazio official informed the Molineux club the 29-year-old Dutch international would not be leaving. They insist Stam stays because Alex Ferguson has already bagged his defensive team-mate. Stam, also chased by Kevin Keegan's Manchester City, had insisted he did not want a return to England but would be prepared to go back to his native Holland.

Is it true? This infomation is from www.soccerupdate.com

Absolute crap:rollani:

Nesta for only 30million:eekani:Then we would have seen many more clubs join in the chase.Looks like Lazio will keep Nesta at the Olympico and sell off players like Mendieta and Crespo to gather the much needed funds. Also Real have a better chance of landing up this Italian than United since the player did say that he would like to play in Spain one day.

Hofland is a more realistic option,IMO, and here's an article from www.onefootball.com where he states that he would be ready to leave if some club comes in for him soon enough.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Clubs chasing Kevin Hofland have until the end of the month to land the Holland star after he agreed a transfer deadline with PSV Eindhoven. "I'm not having a good season and I don't absolutely have to leave," he said.

The 22-year-old central defender, who has long been linked with Manchester United, was expected to leave the Philips Stadion this summer, despite last year signing a one-year extenstion to his contract which ties him to the Dutch club until 2006.

On Tuesday, however, he agreed to stay with PSV for at least another season if a concrete offer doesn't emerge by May 1. "There is no interest in me right now and I am not surprised," he explained.

"But maybe a good club will come in over the next few weeks, you never know."

Hofland would jump at the chance of a move to Old Trafford and speculation has been rife that the move will happen since the beginning of the season, when United sold Jaap Stam, another former PSV star, to Lazio.

Frenchman Laurent Blanc was brought in to replace Stam as a short-term solution by United and, with young England international Wes Brown struggling for form and fitness, Hofland could still be a long-term answer to the English champions' central defensive problems.

But the young Dutchman has not been as impressive this season as last, when he made spectacular progress after moving from Fortuna Sittard.

PSV, who are keen on planning now for next season, are also in talks with midfielder Mark van Bommel about a transfer deadline of his own.

PSV chairman Harry van Raaij admitted last month that the club had received a bid from Italian giants Lazio, while double-chasing Arsenal are also interested in the Holland international.

The player said recently: "There are a number of good clubs in England and Arsenal are one of the greatest. I believe my game is suited to the Premiership and that's where I want to go."

Mateja Kezman, who has attracted interest from Barcelona and Juventus in the past, is another star in talks with PSV this week.

Meanwhile, the Dutch title chasers have snapped up several promising youngsters for next season, including striker Arjen Robben from FC Groningen and defender Maikel Lamey of RKC Waalwijk

i'd love it be true, but cragnotti said that he was planning to rebuild hius team around nesta and crespo only just a few weeks ago, so it seems highly improbable that he's changed his mind.
