Alessandro Nesta has dismissed suggestions that the winter break came at the wrong time for Milan.

The Rossoneri were in fine form before Serie A shut down for Christmas, with many expecting the holiday to benefit a tired looking Juventus side.

"Having a week off will not ruin the work we have done up to now," said the former Lazio captain.

"Juventus were certainly on a dip in form a few weeks ago but the time off will have also benefited us as well.

"After all, we did have a lot of injury problems in defence which means the same players were used all of the time. The rest has been positive for us all."

Milan should have Jaap Stam at their disposal again for the January 6 game against Lecce after he recovered from ankle surgery.

"He definitely increases the quality of our team but also gives the Coach a chance to use the rotation system," added Nesta.

The Italian international also revealed his main aim for the New Year. "I would like to win the Champions’ League in 2005," he concluded.
