Napoli expect to sign the Czech Republic’s keeper Pavel Srnicek after failing in their bid to get Massimo Taibi on loan from Manchester United.

The 32-year-old is currently a free agent after announcing his decision to quit English club Sheffield Wednesday and fits Napoli’s profile for a new number one.

The club has expressed a desire to sign an older keeper with vast experience behind him and Srnicek has clearly been targetted by Napoli’s new coach Zdenek Zeman.

Srnicek has not confirmed the Napoli move but admitted: "I have already had offers from abroad. I feel I have another four or five years left to play at the top level. That's what my Czech coach Josef Chovanec believes anyway."
