Have you seen this: http://www.myfootballclub.co.uk

In short:
MyFootballClub aims to take control of a club
A website has been launched with the revolutionary aim of recruiting 50,000 fans to take over a football club.
MyFootballClub wants people to pay £35 in a bid to raise £1.4m to buy a team, with each member an equal partner.
Members will have a vote on transfers as well as player selection and all major decisions affecting the club.

I've already signed up.

What do you think about this idea? Will it work?
Which team can be bought with £1.4m?

Well theyll struggle to get a decent team

Does that mean youll ahve to pay an equal share of players wages, fines, geenral expenditure..sounds like communism to me, sound s qequal but somehow they ll come out on top

Bear in mind, my local team Halifax was going to be bought out for around 1.5 million quid, although they are one of the biggest non league teams with a big stadium, they wont really be able to buy bigger than a decent conference team..i doubt youll get a pension out of it

It's clear that £1.4m will not be enough for buying Leeds and since you're know more about the English football, that's why I wanted you all to tell me which club can be bought with that amount. Can that be some League 2 club or it will be some lower league club?

Well you've got to find a club who wants to sell first, you can't just turn up with your 1.4 million and go, can I have your club please, and expect them to say yes :howler:

Personally wouldn't want this, taking over Burton Albion, don't think the Chairman would either.

A decent conference team or a small league 2 team is your answer, and you wouldnt be far off been able to buy leeds, the debts would be probelm though lol

This is a problem though, they want to get to 1.4 million, they dont do anything with the money til theyve got it.. wheres your interest going ??

Personally sounds like a good idea but in practise i dont think it would work, theyd be better gettign a decent conference team who acn get promoted so you can get some capital in, surely if everyone is equal it will be difficult for the club to make decisions, or do you vote on a chairman or something, i dont get it

I am a member of this venture and in the first 24 hours of accepting payments over £250k was paid. It has slowed since then but of the 53k registered and emailed around half of them were opened. This could be due to holidays or spam filters as well as doubts people may have. At the end of the day £35 is equivalent to a premier league ticket and for the access this gives you it is phenomenal.

The site will have member-contributed articles.

We will have opinion polls and club votes which the members determine. These will emanate from member articles, member forum posts and member suggestions.

We will have videos of matches (depending on TV rights for the division our club is in) coach briefings, player, staff and member interviews etc.

A team selector will allow members to pick the XI and formation of their choice or to follow the Head Coach’s suggestions. The team selector will also archive previous team selections.

Comprehensive pre and post-match reports which will include video, articles and statistical game analysis.

The club’s financial information will be accessible and updated regularly.

Member pages that will contain bespoke info (info the member can add and amend) and generated info (average team selection, votes taken part in, articles submitted, forum posts etc.) These pages will have privacy settings if the members prefers to not share information.

Members will be able to search for other local members to organise car shares for games, meetings etc.

A merchandise page as well as other voluntary means for members to generate extra capital for our club.

We will be well informed in our decisions on team selections which seems to be the main doubt with many people. The coach will make his selection and it will be there for us to agree with or change. I think a lot of people will go with him anyway as they are of the belief one man one vote
