Official report backs Blues' claims.....

An official UEFA report into the alleged meeting between Barcelona boss Frank Rijkaard and referee Anders Frisk has concluded that the two did speak in the Nou Camp tunnel at half time.

It was of course, for making this claim that Chelsea FC, Jose Mourinho Steve Clarke and security official Les Miles were carpeted by UEFA last week, branded as "liars" and in the case of Mourinho fined and banned from the touchline for two matches.

This news must cast further doubts on that punishment as those who were punished now appear to have been condemned for speaking the truth.

Apparently Rijkaard and Frisk met at the entrance to the tunnel and had a conversation which lasted until they reached the dressing room area. Rijkaard is said not to have entered the referee's room and Frisk apparently told the Barca boss this was not the time or place to speak about the game.

However, having already been told by match officials that no conversation took place at all, there must still be doubts over the veracity of those claims.

What is clear is that Chelsea and the individuals concerned have been slandered and libelled by various individuals and media outlets over the past couple of weeks and had their names dragged through the mud without reason.

At the very least an apology is owed and fines cancelled and bans overturned, but somehow you can't see it happening.

they were branded liars because they said Frisk allowed Rjikaard into his dressing room so this is absoutley nothing new, everyone knew that they spoke weeks ago.

Frisk has been completely exonerated of any wrong doing so Mourinho's lies about him have been shown up as just that - blatant lies about a man that did no wrong.

biggest red herring ever, not surprising the source is from a Chelsea site. :rollani:

'Mourinho has been fined £5,000 for his comments made after the Carling Cup semi-final first leg against Manchester United at Stamford Bridge. He claimed United boss Sir Alex Ferguson put pressure on referee Neale Barry which affected the game.'

The other thing that needs consideration is what FR said to Frisk WHEREVER he said it. Personally, I don't think it makes a blind bit of difference where it was said... it's a bit like someone thinking they can avoid a criminal prosecution based on the fact that they only stole $20m instead of the $30m the prosecution has alleged. It's pretty irrelevant in the great scheme of things.

Frisk has already said that he 'didn't understand some of the things that Rijkaard was saying to him'. Well, bearing in mind that they both speak good English, (and probably a number of other languages), that seems difficult to believe.

Other things seem to be coming to light, such as this...

http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/sport...ning Standard

'UEFA failed to include Anders Frisk's report of his exchange with Frank Rijkaard in their disrepute case against Chelsea because they knew it would undermine their case, Standard Sport can today reveal. In an astonishing new twist, European football's governing body ignored the written testimony of the man at the centre of the dispute. The 25-page report compiled by investigator Edgar Obertuefer for UEFA's Control and Disciplinary Body did not contain a single reference to the referee's version of events. '

'The hearing was set for 31 March but, when Chelsea received details of the charges two days earlier, they were surprised to find that the referee's report was absent. The club contacted UEFA to ask for Frisk's report and when it arrived a day later they discovered that the Swede had backed their version of events almost entirely. Frisk said that Rijkaard approached him on three separate occasions until he finally lost patience and told him to return to his own dressing room. That version of events has been confirmed by UEFA's venue director, Pascal Fratellia, whose own report detailed Rijkaard's half-time meeting with Frisk. Frisk's report subsequently became a key part of Chelsea's defence and senior club sources insist it was deliberately omitted because it undermined UEFA's case. '

What punishment will FR receive I wonder?

almost apart from the fact that Frisk DID NOT speak with Rjikaard in Frisk's room, something that Mourinho lied about which insinuated corruption of a match offical.

That's exactly what I had pointed out in the Chelsea forum. This is biased news reporting at it's worst. Rijkaard's story is backed up with the UEFA report, he always stated he had said hello to the ref then said something about the game before the conversation was quickly ended. Mourinho was making claims, despite later admitting that he had seen nothing.

It's pretty obvious that the whole thing is obviously a misunderstanding, but the fact that Mourinho kept pouting about it when he was obviously wrong makes the whole thing drag on.
