Mourinho Named Ideal Coach
12/30/2004 12:56:00 AM
An eventful and successful year for Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has ended with his being named coach of an 'ideal team for 2004' by French newspaper L'Equipe.
Mourinho was given the accolade of coach of a ‘fantasy XI’ after he won the Champions League and domestic title at Porto, then led Chelsea to the top of the Premiership.

As for the fantasy XI itself, it contains a number of players who have worked for Mourinho.

Chelsea’s John Terry and Ricardo Carvalho are in the 2004 XI, while Deco and Maniche, who played under Mourinho at Porto, were also selected. So were European and World Players of the Year Andriy Shevchenko and Ronaldinho.

L’Equipe European team of the year, 2004:

Gianluigi Buffon (Juventus & Italy)
Cafu (AC Milan & Brazil)
Ricardo Carvalho (Chelsea & Portugal)
John Terry (Chelsea & England)
Gianluca Zambrotta (Juventus & Italy)
Deco (Barcelona & Portugal)
Maniche (Porto & Portugal)
Theo Zagorakis (Bologna & Greece)
Ronaldinho (Barcelona & Brazil)
Andriy Shevchenko (AC Milan & Ukraine)
Adriano (Inter Milan & Brazil).

this should put an end to all those "who is the better manager" arguments.
