In another encounter, first half tallies by José Cardozo (19th) and Miguel Zepeda (33rd) gave Toluca a 2:1 win over CD Guadalajara (0-2-0, 0 Points). Adolfo Bautista has the only goal for Guadalajara with six minutes remaining.

The 2004 Prelibertadores concludes its first round competition Sunday (11 January) in Houston, with Group B doubleheader at Reliant Stadium as Atlante (0-2-0, 0 Points) takes on Atlas CF (1-0-1, 4 Points) at 13:00, while Club América (1-0-1, 4 Points) meets Tigres UANL (1-1-0, 3 Points) at 15:30.

Group A also ends on Sunday with a doubleheader at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, Texas USA, as Morelia faces Guadalajara at 17:30 and then Toluca plays Santos Laguna at 20:00.

After the final group matches on 11 January, the event will culminate three days later (14 January) with in which the top teams of each group will play for Mexico's first spot in the Copa Libertadores in Group 3, joining Cruzeiro (BRA), Universidad de Concepcion (CHI) and Caracas FC (VEN).

On the same day (14 January) the runner-ups in each group will play for the right to meet the loser of the earlier championship match in a playoff for the second Mexican berth into the Copa Libertadores. That team will play in Group 1 against Sao Caetano (BRA), Peñarol (URU) and The Strongest (BOL).
