April 05, 2005

Burbank, CA - Kicking off a major global licensing agreement, AC Milan, one of the most successful and admired European Football clubs, announced the appointment of Warner Bros. Entertainment and Time Warner on mutually beneficial marketing and promotional opportunities.

“This unprecedented alliance between AC Milan and the world’s largest entertainment company has been a life-long dream for me,” said Adriano Galliani, Vice President and Chief Executive Officer, Milan Associazione Calcio s.p.a. “Warner Bros. Consumer Products is well-positioned to globalize our franchise and expand our fan base.”

Warner Bros. Consumer Products will utilize their creative, licensing and retail expertise to develop a complete range of licensed products. New graphics, artwork and retail programs will be created for promotion partners and licensees around the globe and opportunities to license internet cafés, eateries and other specialty venues will be explored.

Warner Bros. Consumer Products’ Italian office in Milan will spearhead the licensing program and closely coordinate all worldwide activities.

“This partnership underscores the global leadership position that our Company has achieved and continues to expand upon. We are pleased and honored to team with AC Milan and ready to explore a host of opportunities to achieve our mutual goals,” said Dan Romanelli, President, Warner Bros. Worldwide Consumer Products.

GALLIANI: 'The realisation of a dream'
4/21/2005
MILAN - During the press conference to launch the agreement between A.C. Milan and Warner Bros. Consumer Products to license the club worldwide, Adriano Galliani said: 'I am really emotional. It represents a realisation of a dream. Anyone who knows me know that I hoped that one day A.C. Milan would become a major player and my model was Warner Bros. Like them we produce something spectatular and want to entertain. If we can successfully transmit the same the emotion, passion joy and entertaiment, we will be able to say we have reached the objective of this partnership. The contract will begin on July 1, 2005, will last three years as far as merchandising and the licensing is concerned and five years with regard to franchising.'
Equally satisfied was Jordan Sollitto, Executive Vice-President World Wide Marketing and International Licensing Warner Bros: 'We are honoured to set up this partnership with A.C. Milan that represents to the world an image of sporting victory and success. We are the best in our field and I think Milan best express more than any other what is good about football, more entertaining and the results demostrate this. Together we can bring even more emotion to a lot of people. It’s bringing together entertainment and the sport as a show. I won’t deny that our aim is to raise the profile of the Milan brand in the United States, to make it more important as it is in other parts of the world.'

Does that mean Dida and Gattuso will feature in a Bugs Bunny cartoon?
Or maybe Milan will represent the ROAD RUNNER and Inter Wile Coyote...the Acme products represents all the acquisitions Inter makes year after year in attempts to beat Milan but to no avail. No matter would he does.
think about it, it would make sense ;)

PRESS SURVEY - GALLIANI: 'Inter play for themselves, Warner are a striking chance'
4/22/2005
MILAN - Gazzetta dello Sport published an interview with Adriano Galliani. The Milan chief executive spoke about football and said: 'We don't have to thank Inter because Roberto Mancini's side play for themselves and their campaign, even though our objectives at times coincide. However, I agree with Mancini when he says that Inter don't have an inferior squad to Milan or Juve.' About the licensing agreement between Milan and Warner Bros, Galliani added: ’In Italy licensing brings in 260 million dollars, and 2/3 of this involves Milan, Inter and Juve. So, we must gain new markets and turnover, even though Real Madrid, Manchester United and Chelsea are at advantaged because of the language: English and Spanish are spoken everywhere. That's why this agreement with Warner Bros is a very important and extraordinary chance.

It's a great pact with Warner Bros.! :shades: This step will go a long way into strengthening Milan into the International Market. WB being a media company as well will help to release DVD's of past Great Milan matches and campaigns as well! Those would sell like hot cakes.
