Lets forget about all these transfers for a while and look at the players we got. One question that I think mr. Eriksson have to look into for next season, is whitch of couto or miha who is going to play with nesta in the center our defense. I am pretty sure that eriksson will choose Mihajlovic but is that the right choise do to? My own opinion is that couto is a better defender than Mihajlovic for the moment. But Mihajlovic can score goals on free kicks everybody says. But with players like veron,nedved and lopez who also are very good freekick-takers I can not see for a minute that we need mihajlovic as much as before next year. And besides if Nesta is away we NEED couto on the field cos he is the only player (maybe sensini too) that could take the leader role that Nesta have. Just look what happend when couto and Nesta were out so that miha had to lead our defence against valencia...
SO MY OPINION IS .. "FORZA COUTO"! i hope Eriksson is listening

This is very difficult topic.Couto is better as defender.But this is what we have seen in Euro 2000.
Couto had best games of his lihe on Euro unlike Miha who
had the worst games against Slovenia and Holland.
But he was not so bad when he played for Lazio and that is the most important thing for us.
But i would like to see Couto playing but Eriksson will chose Miha.

But look at us we have such a incredible team, and the only thing that is not perfect is Miha´s abbility to defend, and that is somthing we can do somthing about, and even BETTER it will not cost us any money.. LET COUTO PLAY and we will win everything.. i hope

Of course, it should be Couto. But Mihajlovic will play at least first half of the season. Until Nesta and Peruzzi wont kick his butt out of there. Read his interview carefully. It turns out to be teams fault, but not his, that they went down 0-3 and Mihajlovic got red-carted. What a ridiculous attitude!! And how many times last season you saw Nesta, Marchegiani(usually calm) and even Couto yelling at him for obvious mistakes? A couple times they almost got into a fight. His freekicks, yes we are going to miss them. He is still the best in that department, although, have to say that his corners are simply awful!! But besides 7-8 goals from freekicks, we are going to concede probably 20-25 less with Couto in the lineup. It's time to think about the future of defence though. I hope the rumor about Cannavaro coming next season is true.

Now that Carini thing pisses me off. I feel like we are going to buy him back from Juve in 2-3 years for 60-80 million dollars.

Figo hopefully is not going to be bought. He is 28 years old and you saw his best at Euro. Still under impression uh...?
And you never know if he is going to be able to ajust himself to Serie A.

Why are we trying to sell Salas for almost nothing(compare to what we've paid for Crespo)? How we can use Jugovic(he doesn't even have a passport) if we have at least 4 players who can play that position(Baronio, Simeone, Stankovic, Sensini) with Giannichedda coming next year? If Eriksson doesn't care if player has EU passport or not, why don't they ask Inter for Javier Zanetti(who was linked with leaving Inter)? He is definetely more of use than any other offered to us player.

I know what kind of feelings Eriksson has towards ex-Jugoslavs(I like them too), but it should be over soon.
We definetely got stronger and can perform even better, but
Lazio has weaknesses and can slip.

What disturbs me about Lazio is that al this personnel moves seem to be made without Eriksson saying a thing. Is he somebody that Cragnotti hired because he found him malliable(sp?)? Why hasn't he said anything significant about the blockbuster roster changes? I personally wouldn't want to go for figo he's too old it's not like he's going to be playing at this level until he is 35. If I were Cragnotti I would ship out Mihajlovic. His ability to kick penalties is a bonus but not essential, what is his attitude and defense, which I think is mediocre. (Maybe use him to get Cannavaro??)

Perhaps Coute is a better defender then Miha, so what. With the midfield were having, will stop most of the pressure from the opponents and we'll have the ball the most of the time. When we have the ball, Miha is extremly good at either passing it around or kicking a long very precise ball to the attackers og wings which can open up the game or a very defensive team.

Thats why Ericson keeps Miha.

Guys, you fail to understand that there's no either - or situation here. You simply need both of them. Not only because of the many games your team will have to play next year, but mainly because they are both SO CARD PRONE that you cannot rely completely on one or the other. They are bound to miss matches (and maybe even important ones). Both of them should be prepared and play enough in order to be ready.

Couto is indeed better than Miha but...
next year I forsee somebody new as Nesta's partner in defense.

We're going to concede 20-25 less goals if Couto plays instead of Mihajlovic? ITALAZIO, that's the biggest joke I've ever heard! In the games Sinisa played last season we conceded something like 25 goals. You mean if Couto had played instead, we wouldn't have conceded a single goal! Be reasonable guys, even Thuram wouldn't have half the influence to do that. We're talking about 5-7 goals a season because of Miha and about 10-15 goals scored that can be wholly or mainly credited to him. I really don't see the problem, neither does our coach...

I think the decision to put either Miha or Couto in the starting 11 depends on the team Lazio is going to play against. If it is slow on attacking, Miha would play. But if it has strikers with good speed and quick-attacking strategy, Couto would be the best choice, because he's quicker than Miha. The rotation system is the real answer.

What will we do if we vote who will play ? Like Eriksson will read this topic and he will make the coise on our depends. NO. Of course Couto is faster, better defender, but nobody is like Miha. His long passes, free kicks (which aren't the same anymore), corners... Those are the stuff Couto WILL NEVER HAVE ! SO we must check the rotation sistem here, and maybe Simeone/Baronio too.

The fact is that before the Euro2000 practically nobody here said that Couto is better than Miha. Now some national games change everybody's mind. It's Lazio we're talking about, not national teams. Svennis will make the right decision, trust me.

I wasn't talking about serie A games only(it was more than 25 even there)
And you are talking 25???? How about 5 from Valencia?

Everytime Mihajlovic was there on his own nobody seemed to be in charge of defence.
And his long passes just open up the game!!! If you don't understand Lazio is not that great in counterattacks. We've been outplayed badly!! in such games. The perfect examples are the same games above. We'll see if something is gonna change with the arrival of Lopez, Crespo and Zenden, but it's too early to talk about it.
Lazio suits very balanced attacking game with taking over the midfield. And I guarantee you that this year we are going to see the change in defence, despite Eriksson's love.
Simply because nobody wants to lose, even Eriksson )

This could go on forever, we'll see what happens...but whatever it is: FORZA LAZIO, first and foremost. If Mihajlovic plays badly, I'm more than happy to see Fernando replace him. It really doesn't matter who plays, as long as it's best for the team. At this point, I just think Miha would be the better choice. We'll see.
