Dear Sirs,
After the recent events following the Lisbon Derby between our esteemed team and Sporting Lisbon, I would like to offer a different perspective for next season.
It is clear that Portuguese Futebol League cannot handle a team as grandiose and as capable as ours. How else can we explain that duplicitous behavior from them? Deco vehemently physically attacks a referee and he gets a one game suspension. ZZ vehemently VERBALLY attacks a referee and he gets TWO games. You gentleman, deservedly criticize the refs and you get fined. The Boavista and Sporting presidents accuse the league of corruption and Mafia-like tactics and their teams are atop of the division with a lot of help from the referees with no fines.
Here's my plan. Because of Mr Vieira recent new ties with the New England Patriots, a very classy franchise, I suggest the shockable. Quit the Portuguese league and join the MLS. You will have a stadium, tremendous fan support, and most importantly you will be valued as an organization by the league. Oh sure there will still be referee errors in our games, but no where near the conspiracy that has taken place this past year. Additionally you will also have your derbies with the Revolution and the MetroStars and perhaps you can even poach a good player like Clint Mathis, here and there.
Furthermore, by making such a bold move, you will save millions from not finishing the new stadium. Let the politicians and other scavengers deal with the fact that the most illustrious club in Portugal's history has requested political and cultural asylum in the US. Think about the impact of such a move. Perhaps it is desperation, but it can possibly be the only way to surgically clean the decay that is destroying the Portuguese league.
Yours Truely,
RedEagle
