It's quite crazy though that they sell established English clubs to Asians with betting and casino connections.

Quickly read through some posts regarding the sale and loan agreement (both approved by the EFL).

"£28M loan at 8% that rises to 20% if not paid within 12 months"...which is approximately £100K a week in payments. 😄

Plenty o' fun between Stanley Choi, Next Leader Fund, International Entertainment Co, and the English Football League.

It is crazy, in American sports they usually vet potential owners to the point of dotting every i and crossing every t, both financially and character wise, and while some fall through the cracks (Spano with the Islanders in the late 90s being the best example) for the most part they don't sell teams to shady people with no financial resources. In England it seems these takeovers take a 5 minute discussion and there is no care about any potential red flags. Of course most American sports teams with the except of the lower NHL/NBA clubs are worth billions, even small market NFL teams have more worth than even the top EPL sides

Different systems, HS. North American sports are franchised -- in simple terms -- you're purchasing a contractual right to ownership within a strict framework of laws and practices.

Revenue sharing, spending, valuations, league structure, financial penalties, etc. are all different.
