A bit but he his very young so give him time. He has had to carry the goal scoring flag all himself. you cant do that with youngsters.

hes been doing good but i think everyone expected more from him. I do agree though that he is young, and we do need to give him some time

Inflated fan expectations are not part of the equation of actuality.

I wasn't waiting to see a top Mantorras this season. I think if next season he may explode (if the current club/staff conditions are the same), mainly because he will finally get holiday (this season he played for Angola U-20 in Argentina and never stopped till knee operation). His current finishing problems are more due to poor form than finishing capacity, although I think he's not a superb finisher.

I would like to see him stay but if we can cash in on him then i think it may be a wise idea.

There will never be another Eusebio!!!:(

Are you guys watching the same freakin' Benfica games I have watched all season. Mantorras carried Benfica in the beginning of the season all by himself. Then Simao turned it on in November, while Mantorras somewhat faded because he hasn't rested from playing in close to two years.

Btw, you guys want to compare. Mantorras with about the same playing time as Simao, trails him statiscally by only a few points. He has 10 goals and 14 assists this season, while Simao who is two years older and was having the season of his life has 11 goals and 18 assists.

PS...Just watch what he does this Sunday.

Simaos best games were played as a forward, but even that is besides the point. The comparison Red made is a legit one.

Pila and Red Eagle, you guys make very good points :) !

Personally, he's only 20 and the expectations of him to be a machine like a Henrik Larsson and a Crespo won't happen in one year. He is still maturing physically and more importantly mentally. We screwed up in the begining when we didn't pair him up immediately with Sokota. When those two played, things happened. The Sokota tears his achilles and we work with Mawete. That was no good so we get Jana. Personally, I think we need Mantorras, Sokota, and Jana with a streaking Simao. It will be a team that is competive and can win!

Don't forget we were the last team in the league to lose first and if it wasn't for biased referring and a diving Jardel, some of our ties could have been wins ;)

It's important to understand we have a good product. My concern is more on defense than anything. Offense is fine. Argel is a head case and Joao Manuel Pinto is at times inconsistent ;)

Once again, you're right on the money with every single point. Especially that last one.

Mantorras confidence is going down with every game.
Could be he reach is peak with Benfica? At the beginning he was riding high from all that publicity, but it got be the major disappointment of the year.

Hey Frank, don't be so hard on the guy. He's only 20, he's been hurt, and to be quite honest Toni screwed him by not giving him uch too work with. The team has been hurt all year so how is the young gun going to develop?

Zahovic, Drulovic, Simao, Sokota, Jana, everyone has been hurt so what do we do, thrust the return of glory for Benfica on a 20 year-olds back? Gimme a break.

As I said before, on paper we have the best team if everyone was healthy but we were broken this year.

I will give him all the brakes. But to me is been a disappointment, if he scorer's 25 goals in 2002/03 or he plays to is capacity in a championship team I will be the first to apoligize.

All I have to say about Mantorras' is the stats don't lie. Their comparable to Simao's and Simao was the best Portuguese player in the world the past 5 or 6 months.

And I am confident he's going to light up Sporting this weekend. They have no one who can handle him!

FORCA BENFICA!

FORCA MANTORRAS!
