Vasoski wins Macedonian honour

FK Vardar defender Aleksandar Vasoski has been named as F.Y.R. Macedonia's Player of the Year for 2004.
International importance
Vasoski is also a key member of the F.Y.R. Macedonia national side and has helped his country take four points from their first five FIFA World Cup qualifying games to lie in fourth place in Group 1. Vasoski's Vardar team-mate Wandeir Oliveira Dos Santos collected the award for the top scorer in the Macedonian First League in 2004, while S.S. Lazio forward Goran Pandev was named as the best Macedonian player abroad.
Award winners
The best foreign player in F.Y.R. Macedonia for 2004 was adjudged to be FK Pobeda's Brazilian midfield player Gilson Da Silva. FK Rabotnicki's Gjore Jovanovski was named coach of the year and Goran Trickovski of Vardar won the Young Player of the Year award. The Fair Play award went to FK Sileks.
Special recognition
In women's football, Sirieta Brahimi was named Player of the Year and the club prize went to FK Skiponjat. A special award was made posthumously in memory of F.Y.R. Macedonia president Boris Trajkovski, who died this year in an aeroplane crash. Trajkovski was a big football fan who regularly attended club matches and every home match of the national side in Skopje.
