MEXICO CITY, Dec 24 (Reuters) - Two players have been handed five-match bans for their behaviour in last Saturday's stormy Mexican championship final which produced four sendings-off.

UNL's Brazilian striker Irenio Soares was suspended for five matches after being sent off for head-butting Pachuca striker Andres Chitiva late in the game, the Notimex news agency said on Tuesday.

Soares's team-mate David Oteo, who was on the substitutes bench, was also given a five-match ban for insulting the referee and punching a rival player in the back at the end of game.

UNL, who finished with eight men, beat Pachuca, who ended up with 10, 1-0 on Saturday but the visitors won the two-leg tie 3-2 on aggregate.

UNL coach Nery Pumpido, goalkeeper in Argentina's victorious 1986 World Cup team, was given a one-match ban for insulting the referee and midfielder Antonio Sancho was given three matches for insulting the referee after being sent off.

The other two players dismissed in the match - Pachuca defender Joel Huiqui and UNL striker Eduardo Rergis - were given the minimum one-match bans.
