The practice in Sao Paulo, Luxemburgo changed his team again, making those changes he promised to make, in order to adjust the team for the tough upcoming match against Argentina.

The latest experiment made by the coach was a change in the tactics. The starters practiced with three attackers and won the match against the reserves 2-0, with two goals by Ronaldinho Gaucho. Guilherme, Rivaldo and Ronaldinho played as attackers, while Alex was sent back to the bench.

Playing that way, Brazil scored one goal and Rivaldo missed a penalty shot. But the team didn't perform so well as in yesterday's practice and so Luxemburgo replaced Guilherme by Alex, going back to yesterday's formation. With Alex on the team, Brazil played better and created more scoring opportunities, but only scored the goal in the end of the practice after a sequence of corner kicks.

The bad news of this practice was the action of the fans. Luxemburgo wanted the team to practice in Morumbi stadium so then it would be open to the fans, but his wish was denied and they had to practice in Sao Paulo's training center. This is just a training center so it doesn't have a good structure to host fans.

Before the practice started, the fans tried to invade the training center and then Luxemburgo ordered to open the gates. Around 300 people watched the practice and constantly booed the starters team and cheered for the reserves, as many players from Sao Paulo's clubs are among the reserves.

Luxemburgo said after the practice that the National Team belongs to the people and called them to help Brazil in this hard match against Argentina. He said that the crowd has to motivate and stand behind the team or Argentina will have the advantage. He used the Argentinian fans as an example. They are famous for singing in favor of their team the whole match, winning or losing.

The mood in the Brazilian camp was vastly improved after the team’s last training session since returning to Sao Paulo last Sunday. The collective in Sao Paulo FC, Barra Funda, gave coach Wanderley Luxemburgo grounds for optimism and provided him with an insight into a possible starting line up for this Wednesday’s World Cup qualifier against Argentina.

According to coach Wanderley Luxemburgo, the training session was excellent. “Spirits are high, and I am sure that we will get all the support we need on Wednesday in Morumbi. I am also satisfied because I saw two possible strategies emerging in today's practice game, but I will only be announcing the starting line up just before the game” said Wanderley.

In the first half of the training session, Rivaldo played in the midfield and Ronaldinho and Guilherme up front. Playing in this formation, there was always one man up front in the area, forcing defenders to stay back and mark him. This was Guilherme's role, while Ronaldinho was more of a free agent in the attack.

In the second stage, Wanderley played Alex in Guilhermes’s place, and sent Rivaldo into the attack – another successful stratagem, with the difference that Rivaldo brought the ball into the danger zone already under control. The session went very well and the first team won with two great goals from Ronaldinho.

Wanderley highlighted Rivaldo’s versatility as one of the main weapons in his arsenal, which added fuel to the fire in terms of the mystery surrounding the final line up against Argentina. “Rivaldo is a striker and can fall back to play in the midfield when necessary.” – added the national team coach.

Ronaldinho also came in for praise. “He already has a track record in the team, and is completely at ease in the first team strip from way back at junior level and we therefore trust in his ability.” – said Luxemburgo.

The national squad is revelling in the pressure-free environment they have found in Sao Paulo. However this does not mean that complacency has set in, after all one just has to remember that Argentina has won the World Cup twice in its history.

According to Luxemburgo, Argentina is strong, but there is no favourite to win. “Both teams have it in them to win, we respect them just as much as we believe that they respect us. It is going to be yet another classic confrontation – may the best team on the day win”

luxemburgo is a big ass. NOW he says that ronaldinho gaucho has proved himself in the national team colors and we need to trust his abilities blah blah blah blah. but why wasn't luxemburgo saying that when he pushed ronaldinho out of the lineup or didn't even call him?

ronaldinho, for the last year, has been brazil's best player at the under-23 and national levels. now he has to save luxemburgo's job.

don't worry, luxemburgo, ronaldinho will do it for you, even though you have treated him like crap recently!

AND WHY DOES LUXEMBURGO KEEP TRYING FORMATIONS WITHOUT ALEX?? this team is garbage without alex. alex is the most creative player on the team, and that's what brazil needs: CREATIVITY, PASSION AND FLAIR IN THE MIDFIELD.

rgaucho was luxemburgo's darling a year or two ago, when lux gave him his first chance in copa america and then let him lead the team in the confed cup, etc. but their relationship has not been the best lately.

don't worry; ronaldinho has a goal in his feet for tonight!

Make or break for Luxemburgo
Despite denials from the CBF, many are seeing tonight's World Cup 2002 qualifier against Argentina as coach Wanderley Luxemburgo's last chance to hold on to his position. His Brazil squad are viewed as being the worst that have ever been put together, and a defeat by the arch-enemy would surely be the last straw for fans. The current Brazil team are scoring 1.2 goals per game and conceding 1 - the worst record in Brazil's history of World Cup qualifiers. Luxemburgo, however, is calm. "Regardless of the adversary, we have an obligation of victory", said the coach, and analysed the situation thus: "I've been working in football for 24 years. I know what a difficult moment is, but I also know that 90 minutes can change a lot of things".

One of the bigger problems facing the squad is the notoriously impatient São Paulo crowd, who jeer and barrack the team if things don't go right within the first 30 minutes. But the team is said to be relaxed and optimistic, and a surprise could be forthcoming. Argentina are expected to play a more defensive role, with five men in midfield as main striker Gabriel Batistuta is injured, and Brazil will be looking to press home an attack from the flanks.

TEAMS (not yet confirmed):
BRAZIL: Dida; Evanílson, Antônio Carlos, Roque Júnior, Roberto Carlos; Emerson, Vampeta, Alex, Zé Roberto; Rivaldo, Ronaldinho
ARGENTINA: Bonano; Sensini, Ayala, Samuel; Zanetti, Simeone, Verón, González, Ortega; Crespo, Claudio López
