Barcelona winger Luis Figo is reported to be interested in a move to Manchester United.
Reports suggest that United will be offered the chance to buy the Portuguese international next week for £8million after the player identified Old Trafford as his preferred destination for next season.
Figo recently extended his contract at the Nou Camp until 2004 but it is believed that a special get-out clause will allow any possible deal to take place.
The 27-year-old winger reportedly earns a massive £55,000 a week with the Catalan giants, which may be a major stumbling block to any transfer despite United’s improved pay structure.
The signing of Figo would allow manager Sir Alex Ferguson to give David Beckham a more central role in midfield, while retaining the quality of service on the flanks now expected by the Old Trafford support.

8 mill pounds, hahaha, and who wants to make presents nowadays. He'd cost about 40-45 mill $, that's what is offered by Milan, Juve, and Lazio. In front of this 8 mill pounds are pathetic.

Figo will probably not be joining Manchester United. It is thought that it is only Figo's agent causing uproar at Barcelona. Figo saying that he wanted to join United was made up by his agent. He has never expressed a desire to leave the Nou Camp. Sorry guys. Just read it on Teamtalk.com

Kez, don't believe to teamtalk.com, it usually posts bull Sh!T (as half of the other sites do). Figo said in front of the Spanish press that he considers two offers that he can't refuse (of Milan and Man U). He said until that moment he did not think to leave, and these offers persuaded him to consider a possible move. The thing that is unbelievable is that he would cost 8 mill pounds, ha, this is simply not the price at which you can buy a middle class player today, and Luis Figo is not such....

Man Utd sounds like a great offer, but I was pretty shocked to read just 8 million pounds.

Italian teams can easily buy quadruple that amount, maybe more, so if he wants a higher salaray, Italy is the answer, unless Barcelona want to make him the most paid player at the club, but then everyone else wnats a pay-rise too.
