Who do you think will be on the team in 2002 (whether or not they make it to the Cup- not pessimistic, just not cocky). I think Albertini will be too old, while Maldini will play in his final international tournament. (He wil be 34 in 2002- remember Bergomi in 98, Mathaus recently). Here is mine:

to psycho, yeah roberto de zerbi from milan, i remember back in 1997, he scored 4 goals against the milan a squad, and a man in italy told me to remember this guy. and i have.

Im sure Napoli and more so Atalanta-juve youth team will hae a few suprises with some new players. cassano is still too young yet.

yea i agree with zoffs tactics. the defence was great but he knew he couldnt defend so deeply against france- as the goals proved. he is an excellent coach. the style we played against france with short passes was great - maybe lucarelli ahead of del bhoy

Del Piero is still one of the best, eventhough I'm not a juve fans, but i still believe that he's great, much even better than Inzaghi

In the world cup 2002, Albertini will be "almost" 31 (b. August '71), it pretty obvious that Tacchinardi will go to the world cup 2002 instead of Albertini!

I wouldn't even let Del Piero near the Azzurri's practice field. That bum doesn't deserve a thing from us fans. He's a sad, lazy puppy dog. And Inzaghi is terrible, too. Both of them should find new careers as insurance salesmen or piano carriers.

Alex Del Piero is an outstanding talent but in all honesty he does not have the nerves for the really big games. For his sake and for the national team's I don't think he should be included in future. Against Holland, quite out of the blue, he was a pretty good defensive midfielder - which was what the Assurri really needed at the time and maybe that's what got him a place in the lineup against France. But in the final game he could not do any good, offensively or defensively. The only game he really shone in was against Sweden when the pressure was not really on.

Albertini is a leader. Tacchinardi is now 25 and has not made it yet, it is obviously for me that Alessio will never reach the level of Demetrio and I think Albertini could feel his position as a central midfielder for some years, I see no probs for him playing in important part in the next WC. The player who may can replace him in future may be Ambrosini or Baronio of course, not Tacchinardi I guess.

good point made earlier about Tachinardi.......he is now 25 and has not yet made it......definately he will not reach ALbertini's heights. Maldini is a must who else will captain teh squad? Nesta or Totti should be vice and vice vice captain

I thought Albertini was useless at Euro 2000, but he probably was the key to Italy's success
