That was the worst half at Calderón this season. Not sure if they're lazy or simply not up to it tonight, either way, lots have to change in the second half. Valencia should've scored four goals already and Courtois have saved this team several times.

The pressing game is non-existant. Falcao and Diego Costa aren't participating which means they're leaving their teammates exposed. Parejo-Tino Costa are just steering the game how they want without any sort of pressure being put on them but also they have tons of space. Valencia is doing a tremendous job combining as well but then again, too much space and not enough aggressivity.

Very little collective support as well, nobody's helping out his teammate and when they are, someone else isn't doing what he's supposed to.

Better second half, not sure why they didn't pressure properly in the first half though. Hopefully Arda is ok.

For Arda, it was confirmed as a sprain so i dont expect him to be out for long. Simeone should have used more subs and infact the sub of Raul Garcia for Arda was not a good one. Koke moved out to be the creative force but he did not do much.

The second half was better but still creativity was missing. Manquillo allowed lots of space for their left wingers especially in their first half. We should have used the chance to move back to second place.

He should've definitely have acted during the second half and used a different approach by giving Adrián or Cebolla some playing time. Miranda and Godín just lumped the ball forward to our forwards who were supposed to do everything on their own. Having said that, we desperately missed a creative spark and I just don't understand why a guy like Óliver couldn't have been on the bench as an option. I understand it's important to protect the group but sometimes you have to make exceptions, like he did at the press conference, though mostly to assure himself of new signings in the summer.

We could've lost this game as well. Valencia's players made some terrible decisions in the second half while counter attacking Atleti, especially Jonás who had Piatti all alone on the right but decided to shoot on target. Also, looking at things and how they were in the first half, a point is great. Courtois save on that first shot, I believe it was Jonás wouldn't have been saved by another keeper who doesn't have that reach. Incredible.

As you say, Manquillo looked nervous and conceded plenty of space. He's young though and this is a high pressure game. He improved in the second half in that aspect but his passing was very poor and you can see he's not used to have so little time on the ball. That'll improve with time. That though is a product of a bad collective pressing game. I also think we defended badly together as a group. The left was completely open in the first half and João Pereira kept crossing the ball, time after time without getting pressured.

The good tactical disposition was at least that Diego Costa and Falcao got their positions corrected in defence so they didn't allow Parejo to spray balls all over the field, like in the first half. Diego Costa on the left was also a good tactical move as Atleti managed to establish better attacks that way in the second half.
