Atlético are hosting Espanyol at Vicente Calderón on Saturday, a tough game beforehand and considering Los Periquitos current league position. Several players have left the club during the summer and some new have come in their place, though it has to be said; Pochettino's work here has been good with limited funds and they've managed to promote several talented players into the first team without losing any points at Cornellà El-Prat.

Espanyol have actually won all of their games in Barcelona this season with a perfect home-record of six wins, only Real Madrid has the same record.

They've had a harder time away from home though; only one win and four points out of six possible games. Their away record on Vicente Calderón isn't doing them any favours either; only six wins in 67 tries where Atlético have ended up winning 47 times, the biggest win in Madrid coming in the 1956-1957-season where the team won 8-1.

Victór Ruíz, Aldo Duscher, Felipe Mattioni, Iván de la Peña and Ernesto Galán

Pochettino will be without several players who could go straight into the starting line-up, all of them are unavailable through injuries. This means we'll most likely see Espanyol start in this formation against Atlético on Saturday night.

Kameni
Javi López - Amat - Forlín - Dídac
Baena - Javi Márquez
Luis García - Verdú - Callejón
Osvaldo.

Moving on; Atlético will be without Álvaro Domínguez because Quique left him out of the squad for a unknown reason, so far. Domínguez isn't enjoying the best of time right now, unfortunately and some fans think he'll be sold to Bayern, but we all know how fickle Atléti-fans can be at times. Everyone else will be available, the same goes for Asenjo and Borja who've just come back from their serious knee-injuries, the latter will most likely feature for Atlético B during the weekend as they're missing a proper striker.

Quique said there won't be any major changes or rotations which leaves us with the same starting eleven as we played against Erreala last weekend, unless Paulo is able to take Mario's spot and Filipe goes back into the starting line-up, a good battle though.

De Gea
Ujfaluši - Godin - Perea - Filipe
Reyes - Mario/Paulo - Tiago - Simão
Kun - Forlán

Our fullbacks need to watch our for Callejón's ability as he's already got two goals and three assists this season. I suspect they'll start like they did against Villarreal where they were much better, only to get hammered because they couldn't come back from a poor goal. Atléti should simply put pressure on their CB's and attack through the flanks as usual; Jordi Amat is only 18 years old and a former member of the Spanish U17's who were so successfull last year. Very talented defender.

The game starts at 22:00.

Missed the first half.

2-2 now as Aguero gets the second goal after a good pass from Forlan.

Referees

Referee gives weak handball penalty against Atleti, but won't give clear handball freekick to Atleti outside the box.

Challenge on Tiago high boot, studs showing, should have been 2nd yellow, just a freekick.

Kun Aguero will be denied all penalty claims this season.

We were caught easily in the counters. Godin should have covered Osvaldo in their 3rd goal.

Quique sent off, lost the plot, frustrating game. Champions League place slipping out of reach. Another season of cup runs...

What a shame ...

Honestly the way QSF behaved was the worst tonight.

SHAMEFUL!!!

After this loss all three points from Real Sociedad were thrown in the trash!

Now 5 points to Espanyol (+1) and 7 (+1) to Villarreal.

Also we missed the chance to open up a gap to Sevilla!

WHAT A BIG MESS!!!

The players had it coming, they haven't pissed me off with a more retarded display in a very long time. Texeira Vitienes as well, how can you be so inconsistent during a football game?

Allright, the players have to start taking their chances, I mean, Kameni had like 10 saves in this game and god knows how many times Atlético-players put the ball on the wrong side of the goal. It's annoying and largely dissapointing considering they had so many chances created, so many times did they play excellent combinations or simply get out of situations with their individual ability just to finish off their chances in a sloppy fashion.

Simão tonight..he should've had a freaking hattrick and instead, he goes goalless from this game while the team loses.

Quique simply needs to calm the hell down, he's getting sent off left and right.

Not really, we've been robbed quite a few times this season, I think Atlético are on -6 or something like that when it comes to refereeing.
