I've managed to see bits of the first half and the whole second half of what was so far our biggest win of the season and also one of our best games. The return of William is only after two matches clealy having a positive impact in our game, both defensively and offensively. I've said it before and I keep believing in that the DM position is nowadays the most important in a football team and having a player with his quality in that #6 spot makes all the difference. He brings a stability in defence that simply wasn't there with Adrien and he also provides a simple and quick flow in the passage between defence and attack with his great passing skills. Finally he allows people like Adrien, João Mário or any other midfielder that JJ decides to make part of that central trio to have much more freedom to go forward.

In spite of the strong influence of William in this game it's hard not to recognize that the Man of the Match was Islam Slimani who netted his first hat-trick for the club. Two Jardelian headers and a tidy finish helped Sporting to reach a completely deserved win that could, and maybe should, have been larger.

Sporting keeps being on top of the table side by side with Porto and with 5 points more than our next opponents, Benfica, who have a game in hand.

We now have a long 3 weeks break in the league (international games and Cup) and we'll be back to play at Estádio da Luz in what will be one of the hottest derbies in history. Can't wait! :lick:
