Primeira Liga 2015/2016

Belenenses 2-5 SPORTING CP
(Bakic 75', Tiago Silva 89'; Slimani 23', 32' pen., Adrien 55', Teo Gutiérrez 58', 78')

************

The league is back after the international break with what used to be a great classic of Portuguese football but sadly became a game against a club that sold themselves like a cheap whore to Benfica. In fact it wasn't the club but rather the business side (SAD) of Belenenses which is led by a hardcore SLB fan, something that right now is causing a state of almost civil war inside the club: on one side the club and those that want to preserve the identity and the independence of one of the most classic clubs of Portuguese football, and on the other hand a bunch of money grabbing oportunists only interested in filling their pockets even if that means selling the club's pride and honour to an ex-rival.

It will be in this set up that Sporting will visit the old Restelo, which will be according to reports, witnessing the biggest crowd of the season, thanks to the neverending support that our fans continue to show in every game.

JJ said in the pre-match press conference that if we don't win this one we might as well forget any title hopes so, the stakes are where they should be.

Here is the list of players he picked for this match:

A very attacking line-up selected by JJ, as it should be on a game like this.

1 Rui Patrício
2 Schelotto - 13 Coates - 35 Rúben Semedo - 11 Bruno César
14 William Carvalho
17 João Mário - 23 Adrien - 20 Bryan Ruiz
9 Slimani - 19 Teo Gutiérrez

Subs: 26 Azbe Jug, 47 Ricardo Esgaio, 15 Paulo Oliveira, 6 Aquilani, 36 Carlos Mané, 60 Gelson Martins, 73 Matheus Pereira and 29 Hernán Barcos.

What a miss by Teo failing to hit the target from a very close range.

Another incredible miss this time by William after he created a great chance all by himself.

now it's Teo with a chance either to shoot or cross but he decides to do something in the middle of both and the ball went wide off the post.

Finally some quality finish with Slimani receiving and shooting with class and doing justice on the score. 1-0 at 24'.

Bryan Ruiz is rugby tackled inside the box and Slimani doesn't miss from the spot. 2-0 at 32'. Totally deserved.

That was a pretty bad grab but I've seen one this season where the player chops the forward's legs and not pk or red card.

Funny stuff i tell you.

Imposing first half by Sporting not giving any chances to Belenenses to launch their usually dangerous counters. We always looked better on the ball, created several clear goal chances and managed to convert two of them. Slimani is clearly hungry for goals after not having scored any of the 5 with which we crushed Arouca in the last round. William and João Mário are also looking very good in the middle today bossing the game in our favour.

Good showing by the team when it's needed.
