SPORTING CP 2-0 Boavista
(Ewerton 37', Bryan Ruiz 45')

************

Today starts a crucial period for Sporting. We host Boavista on another must win game, on Thursday we will be in Germany for the 2nd leg of the EL tie against Leverkusen and on Sunday we travel to play Vitória in Guimarães. Three matches in less than one week and three matches that will say a lot about what will happen by the end of this season.

Today we are missing William (suspended) but also Bruno César, Paulo Oliveira and Naldo (all still injured) and Barcos, who is not yet ready for first team action. We have Adrien and Slimani one yellow card away from suspension.

Boavista improved a lot since Erwin Sanchez took the managing seat from the atrocious Petit but if we want to be champions we must beat them.

This weekend just came to show the level of robbery to which this mickey mouse league got to with some amazing refereeing decisions going both in favour of our two direct rivals. Let's see if we get the same "luck" tonight.

The truth is that looking at the way things are going it will be an absolute epic if we manage to win a league as rigged as this one is but we are Sporting and that means we never give up! :fero:

The line-up shoould be out soon.

Subs: 26 Azbe Jug, 4 Jefferson, 47 Ricardo Esgaio, 55 Tobias Figueiredo, 6 Aquilani, 36 Carlos Mané and 73 Matheus Pereira.

JJ makes several changes leaving João Pereira out and bringing Schelotto for his place, Ewerton comes in for Coates who had a knock against Leverkusen, Marvin is back at LB in the place of Jefferson and Gelson gets also a start.

Great to see Tobias back after his surgery.

Great header by Ewerton after a corner. 1-0 at 37' more than deserved.

Boavista's usual butcher tactics goes still without a single yellow.

Right before the break Bryan Ruiz scores from a free kick which was deflected by the wall. 2-0 at 45'.

A slow start by Sporting which did very little in the first 15' but gradually started to increase the pressure on Boavista's last third and ended up completely on top of them, creating more than enough chances to justify this two goal lead.

A very good first half by Galgo Schelotto on his league debut as a starter, who keeps going forward on that right flank combining well with Gelson. João Mário is also having a great game so far as it's been usual this season.

Ewerton, who had two great chances earlier, ended up breaking the deadlock - of the game and of his own scoring sheet at Sporting - as this is his first goal for the club.

Schelotto now made his first mistake of the game and allowed Boavista to create a rare chance but Rui saved well.

Second sub at 79':

Aquilani IN for Gelson

Unbelievable how this one didn't go in. Slimani's shot inside the box is saved on the goal line and somehow Mané managed to miss the rebound.
