SPORTING CP 3-1 Moreirense
(Gelson Martins 29', Aquilani 37', Slimani 58'; Rafael Lopes 80' pen.)

************

This mad series of matches in December goes on this time with a home league match against Moreirense. Our opponents had a bad start in the league but lately they had a very good recovery and are on a series of 4 matches without defeat and 3 clean sheets. Fortunately due to the new rule that forbids loaned players to face their club (and not due to some dodgy deal under the table as it happened with some other clubs) we will not be facing João Palhinha and Iuri Medeiros, two young Sporting promises that are two of the best players of Moreirense.

This match comes only 3 days after that decisive EL match against Besiktas and 3 days before an also decisive Cup match in Braga. Maybe this will mean that JJ will rest a couple of our most regular starters but we'll see.

Here's the list of players called:

Well JJ did more than a couple of changes. From the team that started against Besiktas on Thursday only 5 players start tonight: Rui Patrício, Naldo, Adrien, Bryan Ruiz and Slimani.

Less than one minute played and Sporting creates danger after a great raid of Esgaio, Bryan Ruiz shot over the crossbar.

Finally we score after a free kick! Bryan Ruiz found Gelson alone in the box after a free kick and our REAL wonder kid doesn't miss the crossed shot. 1-0 at 29'.

Great play by Sporting but Slimani's header goes straight at the keeper.

Great attacking movement by Sporting with Adrien on the right making a perfect pass to Aquilani who inside the box finished well. 2-0 at 39'.

Adrien with an awesome assist on the second goal. Aquilani playing great. Ewerton also beasting. If Guedes or Sanches scores those goals, all of Portugal would be claiming they're the next Ronaldo with an $80 million price tag. Adrien and Gelson will be snubbed this summer for Puerto bench warmers and an overrated Mid fielder

Solid Solid first half display, even after Jorge Jesus rotated the squad

Really happy we picked up Aquilani, his experience and know how is an asset. Watching Gelson Martins play for a couple of hours is well worth me taking time out from my exam studies.

Good first half by Sporting clearly coming for this game with the intention of solving it quickly. As far as this first half went on we looked better and better and our goal looked just a matter of when. It came thanks to a training ground free kick very well built by Bryan Ruiz and Gelson and from then on we started to find the space to score more. We made one and could have made a few others.

Great display by all in our midfield with a big spotlight on Adrien and Bryan Ruiz.

Our captain is having a great season and yes, it will be ridiculous if a player like this is snubbed by the moron that manages our NT.

Bryan Ruiz has been for me our best player so far in the season. He clearly is that key man that JJ always likes to have in his teams - incredible feet, great vision of the game, killer passes and also scores.

I can imagine that we will not play as fast in the second half but we should keep trying to get the third to finish off the game.

Moreirense should have had a player sent off.
