One more episode in the horror story called Sporting's 2012/13 Football Season is about to start tonight, hopefully with a different end from the previous ones.

It will be the first match under the management of Franky Vercauteren and, although it is obviously with a lot of hope that things dramatically improve that we see the boss of Belgium World Cup 86 NT taking charge of our team, nobody expects a change from hell till heaven in one single game.

I just hope the players will react and realise that they are playing for Sporting Clube de Portugal.

Here's the starting line-up:

Rui Patrício

Cédric - Xandão - Marcos Rojo - Insúa

Rinaudo - Schaars

Izmailov

Jeffrén - van Wolfswinkel - Labyad

At 10' good work between Jeffrén and Izmailov but the last pass was wasted.

At 13' it's again Jeffrén doing well on the left offering Insúa the chance to shoot but the ball went just wide off the post.

At 20' an incredible miss by Labyad who received a golden pass by Schaars. What a sitter.

At 23' another great attacking move on the left but the shot by Schaars was saved by the keeper. Sporting playing well so far.

At 27' 1-0 to Setúbal by Pedro Santos. Really everything happens to Sporting. Complete domination in this first half an hour playing like I haven't yet seen them playing this season and Vitória in one counter scores a completely plucky goal with a pinball shot that lobs Patrício. :rollani:

Cedric sees a yellow and we are without RB to face Braga in the next round.

A few seconds after having hit the post with a superb shot, Jeffrén took advantage of a great breakthrough pass by Schaars and beat Kieszek. A deserved prize for a player that is probably having his better 45' since he arrived at the club.

I don't know if this is the normal reaction to a change of manager or if it is already the influence of the first working week under Vercauteren but the fact is that Sporting is different and better.

We showed, especially in the last third, much more calm and composure on the ball and a much more incisive approach in the moments to shoot on goal. We had plenty of opportunities mostly created on the left wing through the excellent coordination between Insúa and Jeffrén. Schaars also seemed much more free than in all the previous matches he played this season and Izmailov is always an added factor to any team.

Setúbal scored a lucky goal out of nowhere and are really lucky not to be down by a couple of goals at half time. We really don't need to do anything different to win this game.

Ricardo Silva, who is on a yellow, elbows van Wolfswinkel on purpose. The ref gives a foul against Sporting. :howler:

At 66' Ney Santos has a very dangerous tackle that hits Jeffrén. No foul is called.
