After another week of mostly bad news for the club - with a president trying to get back some of the money splashed two years ago when he took charge of the club and in the process shooting himself in the foot repeatedly - we are back in the league trying to get a third consecutive win that could bring us one step closer to the upper part of the table.

We are facing Beira-Mar, a side that recently had a fairly good run of results until last Monday when they were well beaten at home by Estoril.

Jesualdo is fielding the same XI that did so well against Olhanense, something that is almost certainly a new thing at the club this season:

Rui Patrício

Miguel Lopes - Boulahrouz - Marcos Rojo - Insúa

Rinaudo

-------------- Adrien

Labyad

Jeffrén - Ricky van Wolfswinkel - Diego Capel

Substitutes: Marcelo, Cédric, Xandão, Eric Dier, Zézinho, Viola and Carrillo.

Are you on the Jesualdo train yet, amigo? :D

The Prof really is brilliant. Exactly what your club needs right now. Discipline, serious work, and total focus on results.

We've done two matches under him so it's slightly a little bit too early to judge although the game at Olhão last week did show a lot of improvements. I don't think he is brilliant but he is a proper football coach, something that we don't have probably since Laszlo Bölöni.

Jeffrén wastes a huge chance but the linesman saw an offside...that didn't happen for some 3 metres.

Great breakthrough pass by Boulahrouz to Capel but the Spaniard passed instead of shooting

Great shot from very far by RvW saved by the keeper and Jeffrén couldn't connect in the rebound

Adrien's shirt seems to be pulled when he was just about too shoot right outside the box. No freekick called by the ref.

At 43' Beira-Mar has their first goal chance in their second shot in the game but the ball went wide.

Sporting controlled the first half, created two or three good chances, mostly from long distance range and didn't let Beira-Mar do anything upfront almost until the break.

It's true that in the last third of the pitch we're still looking undecided and hesitant but the signs of improvement in the middle and above all at the back are blatant. Good game so far from the back four while Labyad is once again starting to show what everybody was eager to see from him.

Maybe Carrillo should come in to bring some snake poison to our attack.

Labyad insisted on the left, served Carrillo outside the box and La Culebra sends a curled beauty on the top right corner. Superb goal. 1-0 at 63'.
