Bolívar 0 0 0 0 0:0 0
Colo Colo 0 0 0 0 0:0 0
Deportivo Cali 0 0 0 0 0:0 0

Colo Colo
The most popular Chilean team is once again in the Libertadores. They hope that they cando better than the last few times they been on it when they haven't been able to clear the 1st round. They were the also rans of Chilean football last year when they got to the finals of both the Apertura and Clausura but only to be spanked by Cobreloa in both ocassions. The team is still in financial trouble and doesn't have the money for any major signings.
Marcelo Espina attacking midfielder extraordinaire. 38 years old now but still going strong.
Manuel Neira best forward in the team.
Silvio Fernandez dangerous Uruguayan forward
Braulio Leal fast winger

Deportivo Cali
One of the best teams in Colombia over the last few years is once again in the Libertadores, but a lot of it's best players are gone. Hernandez, Patiño, Murillo and others have left. But some excellent players still remain. Also they have signed Tressor Moreno who had a great Libertadores tournament last year with Independiente Medellin.
Jose Mera Strong central defender
Oscar Diaz Defensive midfielder who played in the Colombia NT during the Confederations Cup.
Mayer Candelo Creative midfielder who took over Giovanny Hernandez after a spell in Argentina.
Carlos Castillo Leading scorer for the team in last year'sLibertadores.
Alvaro Dominguez One of the best young players in Colombia

Colo Colo has the home field advantage, but Dep. Cali has played better in pre season. A draw wouldn't surprise me

Colo Colo 1 - Deportivo Cali 2 at halftime

Cali has been the better team. they shredded the chilean defense on the counter. if it wasn't for a defensive lapse they would be up by two goals. Though their first goal was offside. It has been an entertaining game.

FINAL

Colo Colo 2 - Deportivo Cali 3

In a very entertaining game Cali put on a great performance. The score does not reflect the difference between the teams. This is a huge win for the Colombians.

A dissapointing result for the Chileans but the team is not a improved one over last years' but their is still time to get back into the fight.

Cali, finalists in 1978, controlled their group eight match with disciplined defence and lethal counter-attacks, going two up in the first half through Mayer Candelo, who appeared to be offside, and Alvaro Dominguez.

Manuel Neira, who scored twice for 1991 champions Colo Colo, reduced the arrears before the interval but Carlos Castillo lobbed a third for Cali in the 55th and Neira's header three minutes from time came too late to save the match.

"Pressing, pressing and attacking behind the backs of our rivals, I think we planned the match well," Cali coach Bernardo Redin said.

"We had to make the most of such a big pitch, so good for taking advantage of the spaces," the former Colombia midfielder added.

With Cagna and Rodriguez through injury, Boca will have to play at its best to come out with a positive result out of this one IMO. Bolivar is loaded and should present a tough hurdle.

Impresive..... no doubt

As I said Boca hasn't played well this year and Bolivar in La Paz was going to be a tall order.

Castillo was a bit of a dissapointment in Mexico but in Bolivia, he is the man.

Final

Dep. Cali 3 - Bolivar 1

Bolivar almost pulled off the draw, it was 1-1 with 6 minutes to go. Not really a deserving result though. Dep. Cali almost the price of overconfidence and chance wasting. They were at times so superior that appear to be toying around with the Bolivians. But Gutierrez pulled Bolivar level, the colombians took it to next level and score twice in quick succesion.
