U. Catolica: Mauricio Segovia, Juan Jose Rivera, Patricio Ormazabal and Milovan Mirosevic are a consistent midfield. They hold the ball well and try to plug the middle.
Sao Caetano: Serginho, Marco Senna, Adaozinho and Ailton are very well organized and extremely disciplined. They are not as creative as when Esquerdinha commanded the midfield but still are excellent in using the wings to cross into the area for the heads of Somalia or Brandao.
ESQUERDINHA's dismissal was irrelevant for SAO CAETANO, because their maestro/leader/boss/godfather is ADAOZINHO.
SAO CAETANO also will have the excellent ROBERT, on loan from SANTOS, substituting for injured veteran AILTON.
That will make their midfield world class in my opinion. SERGINHO is a third central defender, MARCOS SENNA is a skilled tackling midfielder with world class long distance shots, ADAOZINHO is an engine and ROBERT is a class act. If you consider that both ANAILSON and BRANDAO are actually very committed to pressing and marking when they do not have the ball, that is as compact a midfield as you will find this side of the pond.
Actually, their main problem is scoring. BRANDAO is a veteran striker who spent most of his career in Serie B or small teams, and ANAILSON, a.k.a. Frodo the Hobbit, is not exactly a stud. So far BRANDAO has delivered but I do not expect anything out of the ordinary coming from him.
