So officially Rui costa said he wants out of fiorentina and there seems to be no persuading him to stay. Well alright rui, if you don't want to play that's great....Lets see if our directors have the balls to do what they said and bind him to his contract. Screw fiorentina and the people of florence how about we screw you and not sell you, not playcate a player i love to watch, who is acting like a baby. This is why Bati will be loved and remembered like a great florentine and you Rui should be known for spoiling some of your best years.

By the way Rui Costa is one of my favorite midfielders to watch play, I just think this desire to leave fiorentina is juvenile especially before they have had a chance to bring in any transfers yet....

I think that it is foolish to say that we should keep Rui Costa on the side lines. Personally I think that Rui Costa leaving is painfull and won't do us any good in the short term but keeping him of the field is even worse. He is one of the best players in Europe and therefor he doesn't deserve to be treated like that. All FOOTBALL FANS should be able to see him play, I hope in a viola jersey but if that aint possible anymore in another jersey. E.g. Real Madrid.

If he has a fair reason to hand in a transfer request,
(I believe it ahs something to do was our directors and nothing with the fans or underachieving) then I think we should trade him for a good price. To be honest, replacing Rui Costa is possible. I can name at least 4 great playmakers capable of doing a good job. Maybe not the first year but next season will be crap anyway cuz we have to build a new side.

Possible alternatives for Rui Costa:

1) Aimar
2) Riquelme
3) Fiore
4) Daniel Montenegro (maybe you have not heard from him, but this guy is a genious..)
5) Sixto Peralta (he is more the Ortega type of playmaker, he plays for Racing Club in Argentina and comes from Argentine outfit Huracán, same as Montenegro)
6) Ezequiel Gonzalez (he has been linked with Man U, AS Roma and also Fiorentina)
7) Alex (palmeiras, probaly joining Parma, if they can't get Rui Costa)

OK, a lot of these players are hard to get and will cost a fortune, but investing is something we should do now otherwise it is over with Fiorentina as one of the top 7 teams in Italy.

Does anyone agree???

PS I HOPE RUI COSTA STAYS!! (he is the best midfielder right now in Italy together with Veron)

A player should always respect his contract. He has the right to ask to be sold, but the team rejected his request, edn of story. So dear Rui shut up and play as your contract indicates.

Having said this,I wish Rui Costa gets old to Parma...:)

You guys are misunderstanding Rui. He wants to win, plain and simple. He wants his team to be competitive every Sunday. He wants Fio management to provide that....He needs assurance that it will happen. His good friend Bati left because of the same reasons. If Fio management is able to deliver quality players, and compete for the title, Rui is not going anywhere. He is the most loyal of players, loves Lisbon and Florence. But like most athletes who love to win he wants to be assured that he will not be playing just to avoid relegation! So if Fio delivers quality players and a competitive team, Rui is staying with his beloved Fiorentina!

I am sure Rui is a faithful player who wants to win at this point in his career, my point is the way he has said he wants to leave. why not say bring in the players or I am out of here, not I want out...If wining was the goal you would think his management would have explained that Fio now has all this money to upgrade the team...I like rui I hate what he said...to win you need to commit and I don't think he is committed anymore to fiorentina.

Also bati stayed through relagation that is why his decision to leave was so easy for the club to support, even though they did not want him to go anywhere.

First off I doubt he would make a statement that way, it's not in his character. Maybe he was misinterpreted. Secondly, it must be understood that he feels strongly for Fiorentina, and after the Bati thing, he feels he's in no man's land. He just wants to win. I don't think he'll going anywhere though...and if Fio invests that money in good players you will see the best out of Rui.

If Rui really had said something like "I don't feel like a Fiorentina player anymore", I would really hate him for that. He's a great midfielder with no doubt, but if he hates staying here, why not just let him go and get money in return?
But I really hope he'll change his mind and stay !!

I dont think Rui is going anywhere, Gori would be killed by the fans. Bati would have stayed too if Gori had wanted it, but the money we got for him was too much to refuse.

Scream, as for Ruis possible replacement I only think Riquelme would do of those guys since he is the only "true" playmaker. How about the "new" Rui Costa, Hugo Leal?

Why keep someone who want to leave?
Doesnt do any good to both sides. But if he acting stupid, then i d say screw him!

Antoher thing i wanted to say is i think Fiorentina needs some new frsh line p. You have had this team for such a long time and didnt get what you wanted. Get some new fresh talented faces! Start all over again...

Terim is a great coach. Show some patience and he will bring the success everyone wants in Firenze. He odesnt leave any job "unfinished". He wont leave unless he does some great things.:)
