Yes we lost and yes we lost BIG time but I think there is something we can learn from this. We really do need to evaluate our team. I didn't watch the Holl-Yug match but from what I hear we played bad and slow. What we need to do in future is give the young guns more of a chance and look at players playing in Eastern Europe such as the Greek league, we have plenty of talent over there. We always tend to concentrate on players playing in Italy and Spain and that necessarily isn't always the answer. Players like Miha and Piksi have had their turn it's time to hand it over to the next generation. We ARE talented and we can win comps like euro and world cup. We just need to give our younger players a chance, maybe the older guys can still be involved. They can assist in coaching or selection but otherwise I think it's game over for them.

Yeah, nothing to add to you, i tottaly agree with each and every word you sayed. Give some younger players their opportunity, Piksi is to old, and so is Djukic and his company :)

Certainly, Yuo-national team must undergo a generation change very soon. It may be painful now since the WC2002 qualifying competition will begin within 3-4 months. If the Yugoslav Federation did this transitionally, and introduced 5-6 younger players in the team for the EURO2000, it would be much better. At this point, the Federation needs to find a new coach who will build a new team for the first qualifying game in October, which, in turn, is a very difficult and risky task. Otherwise, they would have to rely on the old players and/or old coach which will be even worse. My option is to take a radical step, bring up new players and new coach and try to build a new team. I think that the current U-23 team can form a basis for a new senior team. Although the U-23 team did not accomplish to qualify for the final stage of the Europian U-23 championship in Slovakia, they played some good games. These players plus the youngsters who have played for the senior team (D. Stankovic, Kezman, Dudic and Ognjenovic), plus some older, but not old, players from the senior team who are not (Milosevic, Kovacevic, Petkovic, Nadj, Krstajic, Cicovic, Kocic, Djorovic, Bunjevcevic) can make a solid squad providing we have a more responsible coach and a more sound footbal organization.

Well, they should keep searching for young player immediately if they want something to get from WC 2002. I hope Yugoslav to come at least in 1/2 finals.
