In one of threads we've talked about players from 90-91 Sampdoria team.Of course they are part of Sampdoria Legend...But any other?

Please write down players who are (and will be) remembered, who made great things for Sampdoria, who are club sign.I would like to know them very much.

For me such a player is of course Roberto Mancini :star: :strong:

Just while we are talking about Sharp and Platt (completly off topic) the owned a horse together and it was called Samp2 (could have being Doria2). The 2 stood for the 2 years Platt spent at Samp because he liked it so much. I was in college and needed some more beer money so put my money on it to win.. I ended up being sober that night
:)

Lee Sharp was a great player and I have liked him. I remember him playing in ManUtd in games vs.Barcelona in Champions League...But I didn't know he was playing for Samp too

What is he doing now?

Nice moment yesterday (maybe to balance defeat vs.Siena). Gianluca Vialli was one of the 8 famous Italian sportsmen who carried Olympic flag during Torino2006 closing ceremony.

Toni!I have just watched Toninho Cerezo video (link from Your signature). I found on Wikipedia that he played for Brazil NT, twice he was in World Cup Squad and he came to Samp from Roma. What kind of player was he, and what was his value, I mean how did supporters rate him? I think You, and maybe other Samp fans, remember him well. What is interesting as a manager he has worked in Japan (with some success) and in Saudi Arabia. What is he doing now?

BTW on this video I have seen Luigi Ferraris being renovation and looking as a building site.

Talking about legend players I didn't know that between 1956 and 1963 Azeglio Vicini was our player. I remember him as Italy NT coach at 1990 World Cup. First big competition I have seen and moment I fell in love with football. Vicini played in 191 games and scored 6 goals for Samp.

And what have You decided?

What with Cerezo carrier in the international competitions? Was he important, well known player of the Brazilian National Team?

As regards Vicini, yes, he was a player of Sampdoria, and so his assistant Brighenti (who also was topscorer of serie A once).

And Lippi too! If You trust Wikipedia he was playing for us for 10 years  (between 1970 and 1980) and he was a coach of our youth teams. I didn't know that!

Toni! I know that Francis is one of Your favourite Samp players :D.
Maybe someone will write about our president Mr. Paolo Mantovani? I know Samp supporters still remember and love him...and I have seen video (in the same site as this one about Trevor Francis) about him, including pictures from his funeral...I know one of streets was given his name. When had been Samp president I have just started followed the team so I don't know much about him.

On the Wikipedia I have found his words: "L'unica cosa di cui non sono pentito, nella mia vita, e di essere diventato presidente della Sampdoria". What does it mean?

I have seen an article in newspaper that Sinisia Mihajlovic is considered as the next coach of Serbia National Team (as Clemente failed Euro Qualifications). I still remember another ex-Samp from Balkans coaching national team - Katanec with Slovenia.

I don't trust Wikipedia for 100% but look here:

http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unione_Calcio_Sampdoria

You can look for "Giocatori celebri" and find big names that played for us. I don't know why they put there some present players (like Accardi or Campagnaro) and some of them can't be called "Samp Legend" but it is interesting. I didn't know about Des Walker playing for us.

:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:
I remember I was quarreling with everyone who was telling me Roberto Carlos is the best free kick taker in the world :eyepatch::strong:. I was telling them that Sinisa is much better :D.
Mihajlovic was incredibile because he was dangerous with any position and any range...I remember him trying to score the frick kick from midfield line ! :dielaugh::D:crazy:

When I had seen Veron in Samp for the first time I said it is going to be world-class player and this I was right :) ... I liked his style, the way he played and leaded the team. I am happy he won Copa Libertadores!

Moments when Great Sampdoria was born. I have to admit I have never seen video from this game. This is our first european final:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R6kMls0Kzso

Our team in this game - all legends :proud::strong::
Pagliuca - Mannini (27 min. S. Pellegrini), Pari, L. Pellargini (k) (54 min. Bonomi), Salsano, Lanna, Victor, Cerezo, Dossena, Vialli, Mancini.

I love the idea to come to the pitch with Swiss flag as the final was placed in Bern. What strange shirts we had to wear in this game?

Next year we did better job in Sweden :D

We are wondering about Cassano future. What he will do when we qualify to Europe or we won't qualify?...What is interesting we can be the club he has played most games in SerieA. Right now he played for Samp 80 games in SerieA (scoring 26 goals). He had played 118 games for Roma (with 39 goals). If he plays till the end of the season (7 games) and stays at Samp for next season (with good health he can play more then 30 games) it will be more then in Rome. I won't mind if he stays for some more seasons and deserves for "Samp Legend" title :D
