It's here: the derby!

As proposed last week, we haven't started a match thread, until one day before the match, so let's see if it will have the desired effect. :)

Lazio looks set to start with most of it's key players available: Peruzzi, Oddo, Siviglia, Stendardo, Zauri, Behrami, Dabo, Liverani, Manfredini, Di Canio and Rocchi. Only Manfredini is a uncertain factor in that line-up, but there aren't really many other options. Mauri could play there as well, but he hasn't really impressed there.

Anyway, the derby is all about attitude and with Di Canio there, you can be sure there's lots of it.

Besides totti's absense, it's interesting to note that roma could set the record for most games won in a row, should we not manage to defeat them or get a tie. Now, we certainly can't let that happen, now can we. ;)

Also intersting is the ref, Trefeloni. He's given us quite a few raw deals in the past, and it's no surprise that Di Canio is objecting to him. He's suspected of being romanista!

So it would seem this match has everything to make it a classic derby confrontation.

Now more than ever:

Forza Lazio !!

Too bad Cribari can't take part in this game, Stendardo is usually a liability against any team which is not dependent on crosses to score and I don't think roma is such team. I think Di Canio, Rocchi, Liverani, Oddo and Behrami are gonig to be the key players for us in this game and if they don't perform well we will be in trouble as roma's winning streak is a bit scary. The derbies are unpredictable but it would be a disaster to lose our unbeaten home record and allow roma to make a record of their own with a derby win.

FORZA LAZIO!!!

I didn't know he wouldn't. Is he injured? I forget. It does improve our chances without Totti, but it is still too bad. It doesn't feel as much a derby without the Romanista Icon present. Let's hope we win this one big, and put an end to the amazing winning streak of the Giallorossi.

FORZA LAZIO.

I'm going to be watching this on Polsat Sport. It's a Polish channel that shows Bundesliga and Dutch league mainly as well as Champions League but it shows occasional Italian matches and for some reason nearly all of the Lazio matches. I find Lazio a little boring sometimes but maybe in this derby things are going to get lively no?

The reason is that Lazio home matches plus the home matches of Treviso, Cagliari and Lecce were offered together so a lot of TVs around the world have bought them as a cheapier alternatives to the games of the best teams. :) The derby is either going to be a great game football, or a nervous affair full of fouls and boring for the netral viewers, or most likely both exciting and full of fouls. ;)

Then again a neutral viewer can never understand what's at stake here.
It won't be a free flowing game that's for sure and it'll be interesting to see how Trefoloni behaves.Hopefully better than that **** Mazzoleni.
Forza Lazio vinci per noi!

Shit! We played slightly better than roma but we are down with one goal. Bad defending after a corner. We had some good chances to score and his the post. Manfredini got injured.

Crap Crap Crap

So frustrating that we could never finish anything we started. Aquilani? Clear handball. Mancini proved devastating. Don't really understand why he got so much flack from the Giallorossi fans earlier this year.

Crap Crap Crap

Guess this pretty much finishes any chances at Europe next year. They'll get stronger. We'll get weaker.

Crap Crap Crap.

err. Forza Lazio.

The first half was all ours. And we really should have scored one or two goals. Bad luck (hitting the post) and poor finishing prevented us from taking the lead. It's so indicative of how things were going that roma scored from a set-piece during that time. In the second half roma came back strong and the goal seemed inevitable, eventhough the way it was scored was rather questionable. As were some of the decisions that went against Lazio, offside that wasn't there, handball in the wall from a freekick, and several other moments. Still, we have ourselves to blame. We should have taken the lead in the first half and we didn't. Substituting Di Canio was a mistake imo, in the derby we need someone such as him. And now roma has the record. We'll never hear the end of it now. They'll be reminding us of that for years to come. :(

Because he was playing horribly back then, and that had been the case for more than a year.

Tough luck for you guys, didn't really deserve to lose, but our strenght at the back and the huge confidence our team currently proved decisive. Plus we were lucky, I admit it, but that's football.
