In preparation for the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualification tournament that will start in September 2012, Latvian national football team will play a number of friendly matches next spring and summer, approved LFF general secretary Mr Jānis Mežeckis.
LFF reached an official agreement with the Kazakhstan Football Union about both countries' national teams meeting in a friendly game at FIFA international match date - February 29. This game will take place in the Turkish resort of Antalya, thus becoming the Latvian national team first official game in 2012.
With the Polish Football Association is currently reached a verbal agreement between about Poland and Latvia national teams friendly game on May 22, 2012, and this game is planned to take place in Austria. Official documents on that to be signed later. As we know, Poland alongside Ukraine are the host country for the UEFA European Football championship final tournament nex summer, while a number of Latvian players - Artjoms Rudņevs, Ivans Lukjanovs, Jurijs Žigajevs etc. on a daily basis participate in the Polish championship clubs.
Traditional Baltic Cup tournament between the Latvian, Lithuanian and Estonian national football teams is scheduled for June 01 - 03 in Estonia. Meanwhile, on August 15, 2012 Latvian national football team will travel to Montenegro for a final examination before FIFA World Cup qualifying tournament starting on September 07 at home against Greece.
European qualifying for the 2014 FIFA World Cup consists of a group stage and a play-off round, providing 13 UEFA member nations for the 32-team final tournament in Brazil.
Qualifying group stage matches will take place between 7 September 2012 and 15 October 2013 with eight groups of six teams and one of five. The nine group winners qualify directly for the finals and the eight runners-up with the best record against the teams finishing first, third, fourth and fifth in their section going into the play-offs.

Dunno. maybe Laizans was kept by his club ? There was a room to do much better. Stakovs used a 4-2-3-1 with Rudnevs at the top, allowing quick and good counter attacks, but the amount of bad passing when they looked pretty easy was amazing.
