Besiktas's winning streak continued in the Super League on Thursday evening with a 2-1 home win against Bursaspor.

This was the Black Eagles' ninth victory off the reel and moved them to within a point of Galatasaray at the top of the table. But it was hardly a convincing performance.

"We played our worst soccer in months," admitted coach Christoph Daum.

There was some excuse for that. The match was played behind closed doors, a disciplinary measure imposed after seven fans invaded the Inonu Stadium pitch at Besiktas's last home game against Gaziantepspor.

"The silence of Inonu" was a popular headline afterwards but it was not completely silent.

Fans had decorated the terraces with banners and placards and the club attempted to create a degree of atmosphere by broadcasting crowd effects over the stadium loudspeaker system.

Even so, it was apparent that without supporters neither side could raise its game above the ordinary. As Daum put it, "Because the stands were empty, the match had a training game atmosphere. My players couldn't concentrate at all."

Neither could Bursa's. The Green Crocodiles had an early chance to go ahead when Besiktas keeper Mattias Asper pulled down Okan Yilmaz but veteran South African John Moshoeu put the resulting 9th minute spot kick wide.

Instead it was Tumer Metin who opened the scoring for Besiktas four minutes later, the second time he has done so this week.

The Eagles, the Crocs and the match then went to sleep and there was little to report until a flurry of activity on 75 minutes when Okan leveled.

Ahmet Dursun put Besiktas back in front almost immediately and that was the way it finished.

Superlig Wrap: Galatasaray Cruise Back To The Top

01/27/2002. Galatasaray overtook Besiktas at the top of the Turkish Superlig standings thanks to a clear 4-1 dismissal of Rizespor on Sunday. Down to 10 men when Oumar Dieng was red-carded, Rizespor were subsequently a goal down on 21 when Berkant Goktan converted the spot kick. Alpugan levelled for the visitors moments before the break but in the second half, there was no contest.

Arif Erdem scored twice and Umit Karan tied up an impressive day's work. Besiktas' goalless draw with Diyarbakirspor sent Daum's men back to second place.

Trabzonspor were held 2-2 by Bursapor thanks to a late Alp Kucukvardar equaliser at the Ataturk stadium. Zafer Demiray and Marco Aurelio Prazeres had fired the visitors into the lead but Murat Hacioglu hauled the hosts back into it and set up the final minute equaliser.

Elsewhere, Kocaelispor were defeated 2-1 by Malatyaspor, Yozgatspor beat Antalyaspor 3-2, Gaziantepspor were beaten 5-2 by Denizlispor, Samsunspor were defeated 2-1 at home by Goztepe and Istanbulspor - Genclerbirligi stayed goalless.

Sumialascored the winner for Yozgat. is timo Marmajja? if yes, he was also in the line up.

Denizli won 5-2 but I dont think Hietanen played.
