The Netehrlands will on Saturday evening in Amsterdam play their last warm-up game before the Euro 2000 kicks-off.

It will also be the last game before coach Rijkaard will decide his final selection of 22. At the moment he has 25. Jeffrey Talan, who was widely speculated to be one of the 4 to miss out, has pulled out of the squad to a bad achillestendon injury. It was always going to be unlikely that the right-half was going to be fit in time for the match with Romania, to try to impress one final time to maybe get into the final 22, but that hope has vanished. It was always going to be best for the injury to rest, and that's what it simply needed, there wasn't any possibly chance for Talan to be fit in time for Saturday night.
The injury to Talan is quite a bitter blow, because he came on as a sub in the last 2 games against Belgium and Scotland and did very well on the right, and Rijkaard said, if he was fit he would definitely had another chance against Romania.

That leaves the right-side very depleted, Ronald De Boer is by far not fit, and Makaay is definitely not a right-half. Zenden and Overmars are also options, but both are left-footed, so prefer the left instead.

So who will be right-half on Saturday?, it's most likely Clarence Seedorf. Cocu will play left-back since Numan and Van Bronckhorst are on club duty with Rangers, and Winston Bogarde is injured.

Rijkaard could either take the 3 likely candidates he will most likely drop, such as Van Vossen, or take a gamble and take his experienced players but who are unfit, such as Ronald De Boer, Zenden, and Reiziger, aswell as Bogarde.

R. De Boer should be taken, unless it's above 80% sure, but Bergkamp was also unfit for WC 98. Even though he came on as a sub in teh first game, and didn't have an oustanding tournament, he was still a big part of the Dutch progress, so if it's unlikely Ronald De Boer won't play the first game, doesn't mean he should not be taken at all. Same goes with Zenden and Reiziger.

Probable line-up against Romania

GK: Van Der Sar
RB: Ooijer
CB: Stam
CB: F. De Boer
LB: Cocu
RM: Seedorf
CM: Winter
CM: Davids
LM: Overmars
RF: Bergkamp
LF: Kluivert

The Netherlands won 2-1, only the 3rd victory under Rijkaard.

The Dutch played quite superbly in the first-half, despite playing with about a half-first choice team. Bergkamp had an excellent game, his best under Rijkaard for sure, unfortunately he didn't score despite hitting the bard twice. Overmars scored a nice long-ranger just before the break to give Holland the lead, then Kluivert finally scored on a solo run just after the break to make it 2-0. It was again with Holland, totally dominating possesion in teh first-half, getting at least 4 goal scoring opportunies but scoring just one, then a lapse of concentration in the 2nd half, and bang, the opposition have got a goal back.
Davids did not play, because he had an operation to remove an in-growing toe-nail, and is expected to be out for a week. Despite that, Rijkaard has said he will take him to trainigscamp in Switzerland, and is definitely not considering dropping Holland's most influential player.

The second half was a much better for us Romanians I thought. We some quality chances that could of tied the game. Van Der Sar was very good today. All in all, it was a fair result.
