Being Italian, or fomerly of the republic, people are very passionate about things they believe in. This I know first hand.

We are very passionate people, and sometimes that passion manifests itself in beautiful things, like our Curva displays, but sometimes it can do ugly things.

I neither condone or support such bad behaviour, but without it, we would not be who we are.

He should've respected the man when he was alive, f**king hypocrite. He was there at the funeral for the flashes not to pay his condolences. Everyone in Rome knows that, and that's why he is been treated like the trash parasite he is.

An important man of Italian football has passed away, so all the 'suits' have an obligation to show up, otherwise it would be deemed as disrespectful. A statement alone doesn't suffice. Footballing rivalry should be put aside for a moment in respect to the soul of the deceased.

Maybe, but that wasn't the main reason he went. He went as a representative of AC Milan. It would have been a real insult if he didn't go and sent some junior dude in his place. It's protocol.

He has to be there, no other ways about it.

The Fans will do what they have to do, no other ways about it too.

ALL are formalities. No need to look at it from other angles..

I have to disagree with this. While being a competitive environment of extremes, it is possible to have respect for your peers, afterall this is a sport.

He went as others have said because:

1. he represents his club in official capacities

2. he was a business colleague and one of his peers


You wish the worst for your opponent on the pitch, but when it comes to real life stuff, like the death of someone, I'm sure he was there for all the right reasons.

By the same token, I also understand the hatred shown by the Romanista. Doesn't surprise me in the least.

No matter how much hatred there was between Galliani and the Romanistas, what they have done was wrong. Italians take football far too seriously, and I understand that it's part of their culture, but they shouldn't humilliate a person in a funeral, no matter what. they could've waited until Galliani leaves the funeral, but instead they show no respect no matter where they are.

There is no "naivety" as you put it, there are only opinions. I base mine on the fact that I'm Italian, and have lived in the country.

Do you think that maybe the level of passion in European football can occasionally be a bit excessive? Of course, not all European leagues have the level of passion in their clubs supporters, but sometimes I see it as being too much when there is violence and threats and hatred based on a recreational activity.

Not to criticize, but maybe more to ponder the alternatives. I know people say that there is violence and bad behavior based around US sports, but I think that is more often down to alcohol than racism, gangs, political differences as it is in Europe, these things are attached to football.
