Managerial moves so far in Spain ....

Five changes have already been announced, with by far the biggest news being the controversial return of Louis Van Gaal at Barcelona.

There is the usual merry-go-round of managers between clubs, with Betis starting things off by announcing that they will be signing Celta's head coach Víctor Fernández. The current incumbent at Betis Juande Ramos has opted to move on to Espanyol, and Paco Flores is currently deciding whether to accept an offer from relegated Zaragoza.

Two clubs have gone European, with Raynald Denoueix moving from French club Nantes to Real Sociedad, and Germany's Ewald Lienen replacing Javier Clemente at Tenerife. (18.05.02)

Bernd Schuster is negotiating deals with Rayo Vallecano and is expected to sign for them in the next few days. (19.05.02)

Mané renews contract at Alavés for another year. (21.05.02)

Schuster turns down Rayo and will stay another year at Xerez. (22.05.02)

Rayo have now signed the ex Las Palmas manager Fernando Vázquez, and Mallorca have contracted Rayo Vallecano's old boss Gregorio Manzano.

Celta finally opted for ex Osasuna manager Miguel Angel Lotina to replace Víctor Fernández, and Lotina's place in Pamplona looks like being taken by Mexico's manager Javier Aguirre .

Hey colocolo

I heard that Barcelona's agents approached Bernd Schneider's agents for a contract. Unfortunately for Schneider, the Leverkusen boss refused to free any more players because Ballack and Ze Roberto have already left to bayern. His contract with Bayer ends in two years time. Did you hear of this ? And do you think Schneider will have a role to play for Barca?

cheers

There doesnt seem to be too much going on at the Balaidos this summer in terms of transfers.

Are they likley to stick with the same system, 4-2-3-1 or will Lotina want to change it? If they do want to keep this shape a replacement for Karpin is badly needed?

I thought Mostovoi was on his way this summer too. Has he signed up for another year?? A big shame they missed out on Viana.

Hopefully, whatever Lotina does, he will maintain Celta's recent tradition of playing probably the most free-flowing, entertaining football (if not always the finishing:depress: ) in la liga

Attacking help? You wont getting anyone better for this club then the awesome Alfonso Perez :star: I just remember when Finidi and Jarni feeded him with crosses and Betis reached an unbelievable finish in the league :)

This year history will repeat but Denilson and Joaquin will be feedng him the assists- Alfonso is a good bet for pichichi this season

Alfonso?

IMO he has been washed up for a while already  i am not expecting anything from him

Casas started the season well last year before his season ending injury. Watch out for him if he can find that form again!

Washed up   mad:

I think you need to think about what a huge diffrence it can make being comfortable somewhere and not. At Barca he didnt get much responsibility eventhough Serra Ferrer did his best to give him some playing time, he was never a name for Barca and moving to Marseille was just some vacation, that team is total crap and nothing for Alfonso

When he played in Betis he was one of La Ligas best strikers even when Betis started doing terrible and eventually got relegated.

His talent is very unique, i dont think there is anyone that has such a good mix of dribbling, pure technique and finishing like Alfonso when he is on a hot streak, personally, I think he is better then Morientes (but Moro has the age :) ).

We will see buddy :) I hope i am wrong because i would actually be happy to see Betis do well, but IMO Alfonso is very overrated (and he isn't rated much anyway! which says alot!), and i don't expect much of him

Buddy? No way when you disrespect Alfonso  ;)

Btu really....Washed up, not rated, overated can you make up your damn mind?

When he was at Betis he was respected and well thought of (he had already impressed at Real). I think the bestr example was when Van Gaal made an offer of around 18 million $ for him, and this was at times when Real broke their transfer record buying Eliver Balic-so A LOT of money! (Nevertheless, the offer got rejected by Betis president Manuel Lopera).

The last two seasons with Betis were very tough on him, back injuries and for a while Spains striker partners looked to be washed up early cause of injuries :( Alfonso found his ay back thouhg and was without a doubt the best player the year Betis got relegated. Then Barca got him but they only used him to make their squad thicker, never had any more intentions with him really competing with Kluivert (and then there was Dani, Barca are so good at spoiling Spanish talent...)

Anyway, the time at Barca he really lost a lot of rating and has now IMO become UNDERRATED. So, back with Betis without any pressure- Alfonso can be pichichi 2002
