As amusing as random player hyping to annoy the XT legion of fanboys is :D should Clichy be a little worried? Once again Gibbs puts in a stellar performance free of errors, showing a cool level head in defence. This lad is the pick of our current reserve teamers on the cusp of the first-team and will be a big player for us when he gets older.

Gibbs>Clichy this season but TBF Clichy has played more thus had more chances to f up. Don't forget we also have Traore on the books, its a shame because obviously we are going to have to lose either Gibbs or Traore both super talents.

Lol. Poor f*cking Gibbs is going to get the Clichy treatment of being the best LB in the world.

The way Clichy is going we may see Gibbs challenge him for a first team place sooner than we think. Not just yet but sooner than many would expect.

Clichy still has at least two seasons to get it together, but no doubt Clichy must return the sublime displays of 07/08 or else.....

He had errors in his game in 07/08 as well.

It's all about circumstances with these things as well.

An injury to Clichy and Gibbs steps in and performs really well and can't be dropped. You just don't know with football. If Gibbs continues to impress than all well but you would have to see more of him against better class opposition to really judge him.

the emergence of gibbs is great for us, it should push clichy to greater heights, hes been poor this season but there is no doubt in my mind he will get back to his previous level, i think he misses his understanding with fabregas tbh.

:)

Traore is a left winger in AW's eyes so there is no threat to Gibbs and you'd be mad to transfer Gibbs. Traore had his chances and didn't do too well, that's why he was loaned out.

Stretching it?

The kid obviously still has deficiencies to his game. His defensive game is still not good enough, he gives the opposition winger too much space to cross sometimes, and is not as good a one on one defender as Gael is. He's definitely one for the future, but to say he's better than Clichy, is stretching it a bit.

He needs a few more years under Clichy's tutelage to learn how to play proper defense. He does look better than Clichy going forward though. I'll give him that much.

he's looked good this season, clichy has had a poor season to say the least. but i'm sure he'll pick it up next season. unless we have another freak horror season then we're all screwed with clichy leaving to a better club and gibbs playing a few more years..

You don't get screwed losing fullbacks Xin to be fair. Fullbacks are very replaceable. Just look at Cashley.
thats true, but it'll still be horrible for us to lose clichy imo. he was an understudy to cashley and is the player he is today because of wenger. i would like to see him play for us for a lot of his career.
