It is real. If you ever see an interview with him during the season you can hear it even more. I guess most people from the midwest just pick these things up. I have an aunt who moved down south and after a few years she started talkin just like them.

He's also married to a Brit, so I'm sure being around her all the time and being around his teammates and living in England has contributed to it.

Nothin wrong with livin in the South, theres nothing wrong with being proud of where you come from. Better soccer over here than you would think... two years in a row SC has had the #1 high school team in the country at one time or another.

Sorry, no pickup or gunrack or confederate flag... But proud to live in the south. It's accually not like what you would think if you havent been in this part of the country before, much better than the states with the big cities, most people are polite and most of the time you can leave your door unlocked. I have yet to see any hillbillies drinkin' moonshine or incest, sorry but to quote James Taylor "you must forgive me, if i'm up and gone to carolina in my mind." (probably wasnt written about SC but oh well)

No, JureM, none of that. But if it helps, I tend to dress Southern, sans Stetson and big belt buckle. :D

I lived in North Carolina for a while, and the description SC gave fits the area. And it's probably also like that in the more rural areas in Texas, but unfortunately not here in the city. Here you'd better keep even your gate locked, nevermind the door! :(

As for soccer, while it is not receiving as much attention here as our hockey team or our proposed minor league baseball team, it seems to be picking up. :)
