meh..the bulk of our first team are approaching/are has beens status..at least france has evolved...im worried...:(
Evolved into what pray tell?

I hope you mean evolved into a worse team than they were in Germany.

Have you had a peek at there squad recently...its quite the mess.

Benzema and Ribery are their only threats...their central pairing is untested in international competitions as is Coupet.

They're not exactly playing as the most cohesive unit either recently.

Many players are out of form.

On our squad, the players you are classifying as "approaching has been status"...I'm assuming you mean Gattuso, Zambrotta, etc. etc. are still world class players at this stage and are better than what most teams have to offer at this Euros.

I have a bad feeling about this tournament. I feel that the Azzuri are not hungry enough and they just lost their inspirational captain. Aside from Buffon, I cannot see a natural leader in the starting 11. This will be more important than people think.

Netherlands have a lot to prove and they have some exciting players. I fear this match could see us lose - and then we will be under immense pressure to beat Romania and get a result against France.

We arrived to Germany with the Calciopoli storm kicking off, Totti just making it in time, and we did it, you never know!!

For this match, I'd like to see Cassano and DelPiero with Toni, they will certainly exhaust Holland's defenders, so if it was up to me I'd play:

Buffon
Zamb-Barzagli-Materazzi-Grosso
Gattuso-Pirlo-De Rossi
Cassano-Toni-DP

I would play

Buffon
Zambrotta-barzagli-chiellini-Grosso
Gattuso-Pirlo-De Rossi
Camoranesi-Toni-Di Natale

i tink thats our strongest lineup (now thats cannas out),
we need the defensive cover as the dutch play with fast wingers.

We prob have a very tough match but i think we can win it

Well even our defence without the captain is better than Holland's :)

this seems to be the most sensible lineup

Chellini is ready for the big time....but is Barzagli ??

He will get quite a bit because Donadoni seems to like him, but Im not sure about putting him into the old fantasy team.

When you only have 7 euros left to spend.. You start thinking about Aquilani:D

Besides not everyone on the team can be a superstar, and Aquilani is a good player and I like him alot:thumbsup: I'm just not sure how much time he will get off the bench.

Thanks though:) Right now it's between him and Nasri.

I hope our CB's are Barzagli and either Gamberini or Chiellini.......I dont care if they dont have all that much experience, they are our best options at the moment and they need to get the experience some time :)

Oh shit I have to take Cannavarro out of my starting XI for my fantasy.:moan:

Anyways, you know how I was saying I wasn't that fired up for Italy at these Euros?

Well so much for that. I just finished watching ESPN classics replay of the Italy vs. France Euro 2000 final (No idea why I did). Anyways, after watching that and remembering the intense heart break Les Frogs inflicted on me at that young age I am more fired up then ever for these Euros, especially for the France game where I hope we can knock them out at the group stage. Honestly beating them in a world cup final just wasn't enough.:excited:

I really am going to miss Cannavarro but I feel our offense may be able to shift some of the responsibility for once. I have hopes that Cassano will show himself to be the magician he is on the world stage much the same way Totti did back in 2000.

FORZA AZZURI :proud:

I can't wait.:hopeful:
