hey bodat!

I think Japan would be slightly better than arch rivals south korea. China is too inconsistent, but they did well to hold Yugoslavia to 0-1, although Yugoslavia weren't playing well at all.

Hopefully one day Asian soccer can make its mark in some way, and puton a good show at the 2002 WC in Japan/South Korea.

that would be the problem wenjie....
many people said that japan is slightly better than south korea, but the fact is japan never win over south korea.
if talking about the players, same with japan's squad, many south korean's player are playing in european league...

but somehow, i hope someday asian players could lift up the quality of asian soccer...

I think it's south korea, Japan, well, they seemed a little bit commercialised, I don't know, lot's of hype. South korea, on the other hand, is a little bit quite and they can surprised you just like that. but I think some of the ex-soviet country can emerged as a powerhouse.
ciao!

Honestly guys,I cant name even one corean player...of course I can say Kim and I have named half of their national team :)

Japan seems more dangerous to me.Nakata,Jo and Ono at least provide a sharp front line.

guys why do you always forget Saudi Arabia !?
they have won the last Asian Title and it was the 4th for them. also, they have gualified twice recently to WC in 1994 and 1998.
also, Kuwait has good chances to win that cup. they have a good record against the Korean team :)..guys when you check that you will go crazy. also, they KICKED Japan out of the last Asian Cup 2-0 :) ..so be fair :)

I think Japan is the best national team in Asia but that French coach just messes thing up so much for them that they cannot play effective tactics and plya to the full potential. S.Korea is probably next with all the experience but they young players are not coming out as fast as the Japanese players are and will be behind Japan in a few years. China has the biggest potential and if the new coach (Milatinovic?) can work to build a good system then China might get into the next WC.

I mostly 100 % agree with Sabry
Saudi Arabia are the best at this moment .Al-Hilal ( Saudi club ) just beat Jobilo Iwata and won the Asian Champins League ..so its a good sign that Sadui Arabia still the Asian Leader... About Kuwait being in the 5th ...i think its just temporar ..you all will see them in the Asia cup and the Olympic Games

Hehe, that damn nickname made it out there to eh? Well I hope he isn't as strict on those poor Saudi players as he was on the Romanian ones. ;)

If any of you looked at the results from the following day, you will see that Korea beat Japan 1-0...and that was with the full Japanese team (Nakata and company)..and Korea scored with only 10 men. Japan don't suck, but they are not the powerhouse that everyone seems to misunderstand them to be..they have a JLeague but so what? And Asia's most successful player in Europe was Korean..Cha Bum Keun played for Bayer Leverkusen and Eintracht Frankfurt..he is the highest goalscorer in the Bundesliga from abroad..and he won the UEFA Cup with Leverkusen. Korean football isn't European, but I think in Asia we are a force to be reckoned with.
