Along with plenty of pasta, olive oil, parmesan cheese and homegrown tomatoes, Italian players and staff will eat Australian meat at the World Cup, a local news agency reported Tuesday.
The decision to import meat from Down Under to the Azzurri training site in Sendai, Japan, was made due to the Asian country's ban on European meat since the mad cow disease scare began in Europe, the news agency ANSA reported.
The first shipments are scheduled to arrive May 15, while the Italian team plans to arrive in Japan on May 22.
