Most of those young players are playing in big teams like Lazio, Milan,Inter....I am not sure wheteher it will be good for their improvement since they will have to compete will all the world clas players and they might not in the first team, I prefer watching all of them in teams like Bologna, Udinese, Atalanta....There they will have more chance being in the first team and by the time they reach 24-25, then all those big teams can buy them since they are ready to compete w/ the others.

Here are my picks:

1.
Name: Gianluca Zambrotta
Current Club: Juventus (Ita)
Date of Birth: 19/02/1977
Position: Right / Left Winger
Previous Clubs: Como, Bari
International: Italy Under 21 & Italy Senior
Comments: A great talent, very good technical & amazing dribbler, Zambrotta play how a old '60s winger and it's a quite good scores, now Zoff call to Italy Senior in the last match against Bielorussia.

2.
Name: Christian Abbiati
Current Club: AC Milan (Ita)
Date of Birth: 08/07/1977
Position: Goalkeeper
Previous Clubs: Monza
International: Italy Under 21
Comments: Lucky strike for AC Milan, Jens Lehmann escape to Germany & Sebastiano Rossi loses his head, in the match against Perugia, so Abbiati take the door of Red-Black Devils. A very young goalkeeper for a great club, but Abbiati play without fear in his first season in a most very difficult championship in all of the world. A great performance, play how a veteran so AC Milan win the 16th Scudetto !!! A very good technical for this amazing keeper. The new black Spider !!! (remember Fabio Cudicini at Manchester ?)

3.
Name: Tomas Locatelli
Current Club: Udinese (Ita)
Date of Birth: 09/06/1976
Position: Left Winger
Previous Clubs: Atalanta, AC Milan
International: Italy Under 21
Comments: A natural left-sided, great technical and marvellous drunk dribbler, few goals but very very good. Many great clubs wanted this amazing player, but the price is very high (£10m), so good luck !!!

4.
Name: Marco Di Vaio
Current Club: Parma (Ita)
Date of Birth: 15/07/1976
Position: Striker
Previous Clubs: Lazio, Hellas Verona, Bari, Salernitana
International: Italy Under 21
Comments: Lazio schoolboy, in the first Italian Serie A championship, play 8 match and score 3 goals, but the Roman club don't believe in this young player. So Di Vaio change unlucky two clubs, then go to Salernitana and this talent explode !!! Play 67 match and score 34 goals, help his squad to win the Italian Serie B championship, Salernitana come back in Serie A after 50 years !!! Now a big chance with Parma. A great technical and very very fast, no good with head, but two golden feet. Don't forget this name !!!

5.
Name: Jonatan Binotto
Nationality:
Current Club: Bologna (Ita)
Date of Birth: 22/01/1975
Position: Right / Left Winger
Previous Clubs: Juventus, Ascoli, Cesena, Hellas Verona
International: Italy Under 21 & Italy Senior
Comments: Great technical, great dribbler & good scorer, Binotto is a very good player, but unlucky..., now again injured for 6 months, damaged cruciate ligaments. Like Zambrotta, play how a old '60s winger. Juventus is co-property of Binotto.

6.
Name: Massimo Ambrosini
Nationality: 29/05/1977
Current Club: AC Milan (Ita)
Date of Birth:
Position: Central Midfielder
Previous Clubs: Cesena, Vicenza
International: Italy Under 21 & Italy Senior
Comments: A great midfielder fighter like Ancelotti, motion perpetual & great thief of balls. Now indispensable player for AC Milan midfield.

7.
Name: Andrea Pirlo
Nationality:
Current Club: Reggina (Loaned from Inter Milan)
Date of Birth: 19/05/1979
Position: Central Attacking / Midfielder
Previous Clubs: Brescia
International: Italy Under 21
Comments: This player remember Gianni Rivera, great technical & marvellous playmaker. Why Inter Milan don't believe fully in this great player ? It's a Italian football mystery.

8.
Name: Nicola Ventola
Nationality:
Current Club: Bologna (Ita)
Date of Birth: 24/05/1978
Position: Striker
Previous Clubs: Bari, Inter Milan
International: Italy Under 21
Comments: Great player with head, of less value with feet, very fast but wrong many goals in front of the door. At the moment not mature for play in a great club. Like Binotto, too many injured. Inter Milan is co-property of Ventola.

9.
Name: Gennaro Ivan Gattuso
Nationality:
Current Club: AC Milan (Ita)
Date of Birth: 09/01/1978
Position: Central Midfielder
Previous Clubs: Perugia, Glasgow Rangers, Salernitana
International: Italy Under 21
Comments: Red-Black midfielder mastiff, after 2 years with Glasgow Rangers, come back in Italy more strong. Not very good with feet but big shoot, very dynamic but at the moment, too bad & too fouls. Anyway, the player is very good.

10.
Name: Roberto Baronio
Nationality:
Current Club: Reggina (Ita)
Date of Birth: 11/12/1977
Position: Central Midfielder
Previous Clubs: Brescia, Lazio, Vicenza
International: Italy Under 21
Comments: A very good playmaker, good technical, few goals and only of the long distance. Very young for a great midfield club, but a certainly promise.

11.
Name: Simone Inzaghi
Nationality:
Current Club: Lazio (Ita)
Date of Birth: 05/04/1976
Position: Striker
Previous Clubs: Piacenza
International: Italy Under 21
Comments: Very fast like brother, but more strong with head. In his first Serie A Championship score 15 goals with Piacenza. Now a great club, very strong like Pippo ?

Ferrari Rivalta Grandoni Zanchi and Mezzano are the best defenders around right now but under them there are superb players 2 of whom spring to mind immediately.

Lazzeri a fantastic libero who reminds everyone who sees him of Franco Baresi.

Also there is an INTER youngster called Lizzori who is also a top left sided defencive talent but not yet in Lazzeri's calss.

These two are both 17 so it will be at least a year or two before they are heard of.

------------------------------------------------------------

In midfield the top talents are as folows.
Gattusso Gianecheda C.Zanetti Pinzi Morrone Locatelli and we all know the top class player called Zambrotta.

Those that merit special mention are those are Barnio Pirlo Vannucchi Ambrosini and Coco.

FRANCESCO COCO is considered the next Maldini but i say he is even better than Maldini himself and is in the Giancinto Fachetti mould. He is a technicaly advanced player for his age in that he doesn't over use his extremem pace during games nor does he spend too much time coming forward from his deefencive midfield left side position. Many consider hima left back but i consider him a left wing back in the Roberto Carlos mould. He is an extremely mature player and will definately put Serginho the clown on the bench this season.

MASSIMO AMBROSINI is undoubtedly the next Carlo Ancelotti i need say no more about him we all know his class. Top class defencive midfielder with that extra bit of technical ability needed to match players like Viera and Petit. Bettered in his role world wide only by Emerson Davids Petit and Viera. Top class guy with that much needed extra lung.

ROBERTO BARONIO!!!!!!!!!!!!! the best italan central midfielder probably since the old days of teh seventies. Extreme technique and extreme fighting spirit. Will eventually replace Albertini in the Italian midfield. Fantastic player with the ability to hit free kicks like Veron or Mihajlovic. Can score free kicks from anywhere in his oponents half. Great dribbler and scores his share of goals too. top class talent unrivaled in Italian soccer. An improvement on even DiBiagio's technique.

IGHIL VANNUCCHI the fastest Italian player around. is a legitamite challenger to Zambrotta as the unrivaled right side of teh Italian midfield. More realistically though he will probably be the understudy of bothg Zambrotta and Coco as teh wing back of the national team. Outstanding player due to his versatility. Can even play as a striker or playmaker or in central midfield. One of teh many reasons why many experts say Italy is the team to watch over the next decade.

ANDREA PIRLO some call him the next Baggio.....i know better. he is better than Baggio. He is physically stronger than Baggio and he is more intelligent in terms of off the field antics than Baggio ever was. Has everything Baggio ever had except the powerful shot. Other than that he has a fantastic ability that Baggio never had and that is to score goals with his head. Uncanny ability like Marcelo Salas to score with his head although he is often the shortest player on the field. Is best tilized as a playmaker. If he should be likened to any player in the history of football it should be Gianni Rivera and no one else.

Strikers
Commandini Ventola DiVaio Saudati Graffiedi Stellone DiMichelle are all good but none of them are truly in the Vieri class or even Totti for that matter that is why it is hard to see any of them really breaking into Italy's starting line up ahead of guys like

Montella and Inzaghi...Del Piero and Vieri and for sure not Totti so mabye Italian strikers will be the same fo the next 6 or so years until fantastic guys like

Russo Cassano Sinigaglia Rigoni Gaentano D'Agostino and others break into the national team

these guys are about all 17 years old and are all primavera players except Cassano.

that is a great generation of strikers but some how i don't see any of teh current crop of strikers being better than the ones already available.

The only slot up for grabs are probably Del Piero's and Inzaghi's. Ventola and probably Cassano will take those before W.C. 2002 other than that i think no one esle will be there.

Thats exactly right, Inzaghi and del Piero should be the ones to be replaced by these fine youngsters. Pirlo for Del Piero and Ventola for Inzaghi. Cassanno is too young yet but he will make his mark when he comes.

Everyone forgot the future goalkeepers.

1-Christian Abbiati (Played a big role in Italy's glory in the Under 21 Championships)

2-Francesco Benussi (Played with Italy's under-18 national team)

3-Genarosso Rossi (Played for Italy's second squad in the under-21 Toulon Tournament this year)

Great future for Italy with these faboulas goalkeepers.

We still have great young GK's so the ones you mentioned won't be playing for a while.
Toldo, the best keeper in the world in my opinion(great season with Fiorentina with a great Euro2000 following it to prove it was not a fluke). He is still quite young for a GK, the next Zoff I think.

Buffon, not too far behind Toldo and at only 23.

Abbiati, he's 22-23 aswell and the Gk of the u21 euro winning team. At his age you gotta be good to play as #1 for Milan.:) Antonioli placed above him for Euro2000 is still a mystery to me. Antonioli isn't that great and should not be #1 at Roma.

I hope Toldo remains #1 for Italy because he is so good and better than Buffon.
Benussi and Rossi are also potential greats but it is hard to see them replacing Abbiati and Buffon after Toldo leaves.

There are only 3 names in the Italian frame for keepers for the next 10-15 years and their names are Abiati Buffon and Toldo.

no one else will be considered.
